I thought 1917 was highly entertaining but it has no business winning best picture. Not that it matters. It's still better than previous winners.
Oscars 2020 Predictions Category by Category, Using Math Zauzmer’s model results went up yesterday. Most of these seem pretty accurate. Only big ones I don’t agree with are the sound categories, 1917 is definitely going to win both of those, and visual effects, which I also believe 1917 will win.
Best Picture - Brutally Honest Oscar Ballot: '1917' Is "Gimmicky," Renée Zellweger "Nailed It" Lol not sure if I love these or hate these
The time jumps were slightly confusing. I knew about them beforehand and didn't really have issue with it, but my grandma was confused by it for sure.
But they looked so different from one another, Gerwig created a clear visual separation between what was past and what was present.
yeah, I guess... for someone reviewing films, they should have caught onto this, but for the average viewer (my grandma) who only sees a handful of films a year, I can understand it being a little confusing.
I think this voter's biggest offense is saying his favorite film of the year was Yesterday. Important distinction is that the academy is made up of people that work or have worked in the industry. Not critics. Therefore, there are plenty of industry heads with bad taste. (Think of all the terrible choices that get made when making movies every single year. Not all of them can be winners.)
I finally just watched Parasite and anyone that thinks that enough doddering old white Academy voters are gonna give it the votes to win Best Picture are on some good stuff that I definitely want some of lol
They say “the timing of the cuts” so presumably they do seem to know? The Irishmen comment reads more like a joke
