Ehhhh its a bop, almost sounds too polished that it disguises their sound though? Jumps on my playlist for sure.
The breakdown fucking RULES. Gonna plow into complete strangers and dance my ass off to this. It does feel grungier than their other stuff; maybe it’s the (slightly) slower pace. But The Brightest Days was the best overall record I heard last year and I trust this as a piece of a bigger puzzle.
Happy to have more Gami; something about this doesn’t quite hit for me until we get to the breakdown (some combo of the guitar tone and its placement in the mix for the front half of the song isn’t working for me), but if we get another new album this year and it’s anywhere close to as good as Brightest Days, then I’d be thrilled
This just made me spin The Brightest Days front to back again. For a full album payoff, I truly don’t know if a moment has been higher for me in the last 12 months (maybe only Childhood or Anthem Pt 3 on OMT) than the build and release of the second chorus and bridge of Few and Far Between. You know it’s coming after the title track and especially after the first chorus. But when they have the instrumental dropout, the lone “cuz it’s been RAINING” and then the full roaring guitars and drums of that chorus, I still get prickly goosebumps every single time it hits.
Not to be that person but Brightest Days is not an album. Whatever this is off (from what I've been told) is the album and proper follow-up to Gami Gang.
Pretty sure I read they wrote The Brightest Days in between Somewhere City and Gami Gang, then decided to record it prior to the "true" GG follow up
I love the breakdown here but at the same time it’s a little too similar to Neutrogena Spektor. Can’t repeat the same trick too many times!
Only a hardcore fan is going to care about that, if they're going to get big, that kinda thing really doesn't matter imo.
I put the song on, and the next song that came on was Drown by Microwave. You are prophetic SomewhereCity.
Don’t thank me thank the AI curation overlords who will recommend Drown every time your playlists or albums finish up for the next few weeks
It was Hot Mully's No Shoes in the Coffeeshop for like 4 months. Was one of my favorite songs, miraculously still is. Pretty pumped for this Origami album though, when's the release date?
I like this song. don't love it though yet crazy to me that The Brightest Days was apparently just a throwaway for them. for me it's their best work by far lmao
Gami Gang is probably my album of the decade. Brightest Days has a handful of classics and was sufficient to tide me over. This new one is perhaps not grabbing me as immediately as I'd have expected but I'm really confident that if they put out a new LP it will be fantastic.
