Never listened to Mom Jeans, but just found about the severe bullying. I don’t want to support a tour with them. Damn.
For me it's Mach Bike. When the line "Stop wasting all your time doing things that you don't wanna do" my brain just goes yes, that's the spot.
dr fondoom, gg and self-destruct or you're a cop. just gimme that dummy breakdown on repeat. still my aoty.
Ryland said the lyrics in gg are some of the only ones that ever made him want to cry in this Track by track so yeah, gg rules.
All great suggestions. I normally make a year-end countdown and try to limit it to say 5 songs per artist, but this album is going to make that nearly impossible. In fact it has me rethinking the entire premise because I want any recap of this year to start with #GAMIGANG>Self Destruct and then to finish with gg. My best friend is a huge fan of the album as well and his choice is Caught in the Moment. When the slowed-down chorus change up hits it's hard to argue. Then again I could say the same for a whole bunch of parts on this album. It's just an album of MOMENTS. I particularly love: "Don't you know you're my fucking best friend" onward in /trust The way the chorus of Self Destruct just locks in and continues until breaking point, especially "One more for the books just one time" The chantalong finish to Footloose, "if the shooooooooeeeeeeeee fittttttssssss" The outro on Blanket Statement When the opening melody returns in gg and it's just like oh shit here we go and then it fucking goes.
Every time I’m reminded that this band is only 2 people and that they basically recorded everything in their bedroom I am blown away again.
This is still competing for the top spot on my running albums of the year list. The other contenders are The Killers and A Great Big Pile of Leaves.
