All these comparisons make me want to check out Relient K more. I remember loving their album Mmhmm, but I need to listen to the rest.
There is a lot to explore, but if you like Origami Angel I would suggest checking out mmhmm, Five Score and Seven Years Ago, and Air For Free first. Then Forget and Not Slow Down, Bird and the Bee Sides, Nashville Tennis and Two Lefts from There, then Anatomy.... ok I might have gone too deep
Two Lefts, MMHMM, Five Score, and Forget and Not Slow Down are worth checking out, everything else is passable or bad
Just read the preview for this and the opener has no drums and is about Riley’s cousin (who was a musician that worked with Yip?) who passed away. This albums gonna be crazy
Origami Angel and Relient K have become two of my favorite bands over the last two years and I don’t think that was a coincidence lol. Forget and Not Slow Down is forever and always my top, but may be least representative of what they do best IMO. Still regret missing RK on their last tour
Yeah, he was a really good drummer named TJ de Blois. I know him from Zolof and and A Life Once Lost.
Throwing my hat in the Relient k recs - all the suggestions are great but don't skip The Birds and The Bee Sides/The Nashville Tennis EP! Best b-sides and outtakes collection ever.
While i'm not sure i hear the relient k comparison i will (reluctantly) share that collapsible lung is one of my favorites of theirs, it grew on me so much. Just listen to their whole discography. Edit: i hear it very very very much listening to Lost Signal for the first time
Collapsible Lung is one of the worst albums I have ever heard in my entire life, especially as a follow up to FANSD which was their peak. anyway, GAMI GANG
I haven’t listened to this record yet, but The Brightest Days was extremely Relient K sounding at times.
Listening to Few and Far Between for the first time, I got big Nerf Herder vibes. Still do every now and then.
