i very much see the will yip grungey/alt rock presence on this record and am into it. idk if its my favorite but another basically perfect record from gami we love to see it
Yeah Few and Far Between is probably the best song on TBD. gg is not only a perfect title for a closing track on Gami Gang but is genuinely moving and absolutely epic. The Air Up Here plays like it's gonna be the best song on Somewhere City (or close) before segueing into "I Just Wanna Sell Out My Funeral" on a sugar rush. When it's all said and done, Feeling Not Found could be the best of them all.
Gami Gang is my favourite album of the 2020s. Do yourself a favour. But really all 4 of their albums (including mini-album The Brightest Days) are great. And there is a lot to like in their EPs as well.
This is way too new for me to rank it, but my gut instinct is it will sit right behind The Brightest Days for me. Really great record.
Obviously I’ll give this time to settle in, but for immediate reaction I still think the Brightest Days is their best collection of songs …. but I like all their albums. Including this.
The back half rules. I couldn’t get through my first listen uninterrupted. Stopped at fruit wine. Felt really good but truly hasn’t been wowed. But fruit wine through the end knocked me flat, especially the last two.
The bass on this release is pretty robust. Does R contribute bass on this? I’m assuming so. Also they don’t have a touring bass player correct it’s just the two of them?
https://reverb.com/news/origami-angel-interview This is a truly fascinating read on how he does it all.
The one two punch of the final songs after a somewhat depressing (lyric wise) journey is really hitting me. It reminds me of EIIKM by MCS where the final song (another title track!) is about acknowledged discomfort and the presence to not let that stop them from living their life. It’s a message anyone can relate to.
