Thought this was pretty good up until the bomb, kind of thought everything after dragged hard. Didn’t need to be 3 hours long. Still think it’s Nolan’s best in a while though.
Ended up seeing this again with some friends and enjoyed it a lot more. Definitely easier to follow along knowing all the characters/names from the first viewing.
Saw this last night and wanted to digest. Its another Nolan masterpiece and im just glad someone's allowed to do these type of summer blockbuster movies that are somewhat different, unique, and the people behind it are pouring their heart and soul into. By God, the cast alone is nuts. Every time a new character came in screen it was another big time thespian of an actor. Cillian Murphy rules obviously. But.... but.... Id be lying if I didn't say at parts following all of the characters involved, remembering their names and who they're all talking about throughout the movie was tough. Also, centering this all around a cabinet members appointing committee hearing i thought was weird. Nolan is obsessed with not making linear movies haha I get it but I thought this was an odd way to structure the movie. I guess I never understood the importance of Robert Downey Jrs character or the importance of Oppenheimer losing security clearance was. Its a solid 8/10 for me. And of course its a through and through theater experience which is great to see these days
As soon as the test is successful, the US war machine is done with him. The back half of the movie is him trying to maintain whatever control he can over the doomsday weapon he believes he’s created. He’s not built to play that game tho.
Idk if the movie did a good job coveying the importance of Oppenheimer maintaining that control though. Other than for his own gain or glory?
He was trying to stop the h-bomb was being made because he knew how destructive it would be. I wouldn’t say that’s him reaching for his own gain or glory. Maybe him trying to remove some guilt he has over the a-bomb.
I don't know if that article mentions this, but I read this article below... https://www.dictionary.com/e/memes/5-7/ ...and the wildest thing to me is that the account that coined the meme was actually an alt account of the other account involved in the exchange. I can't decide if that's genius or not.
the score is way too much sometimes, one of my favorite scenes is them deciding where to bomb simply because there is no score.
How is this an ideal edible film? every film I’ve heard of people enjoying edibles with is a complete 180 from Oppenheimer
They're good for getting really invested into films and they last a long time lol. Probably wouldn't remember it very well though haha.
