The feeling of lingering doom throughout this film, and the existential dread it inspires at the end, is quite something. I've watched other intense films, but none of them caused this same sense of haunting. Murphy and RDJ are awesome, the whole cast is great really. I know Pugh and Blunt don't have great roles, but Blunt especially is awesome in this. Affleck's scene is unnerving too. Was probably a tad too long and there was a lot going on very quickly early, but thought Nolan did a pretty good job with the pacing. Also glad I have not yet seen Barbie, because I really need that to make me feel less glum after this.
The feeling of dread is certainly something I have only experienced with this film. Aside from knowing where all of it eventually leads, the editing, score, and acting really nails it. It’s a panic attack disguised as a film.
Every Christopher Nolan Movie Ranked From Worst to Best, Including ‘Oppenheimer’ https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/m...cb95ba466b94b8eee6995e3e72502e2a62b11944257f1 "Oppenheimer is too long, overly chatty and its final act goes from fate-of-the-world stakes to men sitting around tables arguing over a security clearance (imagine if Batman defeated the Scarecrow in Batman Begins and then spent another 40 minutes discussing how to best fix Gotham City’s damaged monorail system" Hahahahahahahaha
Bale, in his super grovely voice: "But if we add two lines running all along 3rd street, we can relieve crime down on street level" Alfred: "The commissioner said no" Bale: "Fuuuuuuuuccccckkkk"
Agree with the sentiments about this being incredibly foreboding and haunting. The tension building in the test sequence is just unbelievable. The score is striking, and just the use of occasional silence is brilliant. I did think the final act got a little confusing, with having to try to keep track of so many names and faces as things shook out. Once I grasped what was occurring, it was relatively easy to put the pieces all back together, but I did have a few moments there where I was scrambling to determine if I'd missed something along the way, or if things were devolving into Tenet levels of confusion, but it quickly got back on track. I think had I been more familiar with the beats going in, it'd have played better. Still, a remarkable film with just incredible performances all around.
I liked but didn’t love this. It was obviously really well done but didn’t fully click for me. Also I got the dong cut but for some reason he was hanging dong during the trinity test.
Kinda annoyed me how he continued to bother Oppenheimer about working on the h-bomb after he was the one that smothered his face for the testing of a much smaller bomb.
Also I told some incel to get off his phone and he freaked out for like 2 minutes. He left his seat and went to the front row and then came back a few minutes later and continued to freak out until I told him to shut the fuck up.
