Bird has seen Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” just last week, and he has nothing but praise for the film: “I am stunned and emotionally recovering from it. I think it is going to be seen as a stunning artistic achievement and I hope it will spark a national conversation about the issues Oppenheimer was desperate to talk about: how to live in the atomic age, and about McCarthyism — what it means to be a patriot, and what is the role of a scientist, in a society drenched with technology and science, to speak out about public issues.” https://www.worldofreel.com/blog/2023/6/y3vcka1dez0qbwktcr4ucsv0jjlj2h
Why would you doubt Nolan? Okay, I’m kind of a big Nolan guy. I know why people would doubt it. His stuff just works for me every time while I know some of his stuff is pretty divisive.
I really like a lot of what Nolan does and respect his place in cinema, I was just unsure of exactly what angle Opp was going to take with the material
I'm confused, can't 70mm (1570) reels only go for 2 hours and 45 minutes? Will this just be a full reel and then some clipped on?
Got myself an IMAX ticket as well opening weekend (Saturday) here in Oslo, right in the center of the theater, for a 2:30pm screening. Perfect
Oslo, Norway; moved here in December 2021. From Minnesota in the US. Luckily they only do subtitles here and not dubbing. Though, for the German parts in the latest Indiana Jones, they only showed Norwegian text obviously, so I had no idea what was being said during those parts, haha (haven't really had to learn much of the language, at least for my job)
I'm guessing somehow they've come up with special reels to handle the full size of film for this movie
Yeah whatever This guy argues a $100 million budget is much too expensive for a character story, and that in general his films have gotten too big. Hmmmm https://screenrant.com/christopher-nolan-oppenheimer-problem-smaller-movie/ "Unfortunately, Oppenheimer is a step in the wrong direction. It could likely have been made with half the budget and may well have been better for it."
listen, i saw first man in theatres, and while it was an incredible experience i learned anything over 2 hours in a theatre is too much for me lol
