It's good but it's always felt kinda forgettable to me, at least by their standards.

So my partner is really into pop punk. I am not.

What are three pop punk bands I should do a discography run on that are not Blink-182, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, or early Paramore (because he plays those bands all the time anyways)?

I am going to run through 5 bands (excluding those) and I have already selected Jawbreaker and Motion City Soundtrack since I have listened to one Jawbreaker album and liked it. And I have heard some Motion City Soundtrack songs and liked a decent amount of those as well.

Depending on what Jawbreaker album you listened to, I wouldn’t expect that you’ll like the rest haha.

Blink-182 is a great choice. I’d also consider Fall Out Boy or if you want the history of pop punk, Descendents.

The Jawbreaker album I heard was Dear You.

Not as interested in Blink-182 since he plays full albums from them all the time. But I'll put Descendants and Fall Out Boy on the "too be considered list" since I've really only heard the big songs from both bands.

this is all there is Supporter

If Jimmy Eat World still gets lumped into pop punk, they are the GOAT.
The Starting Line have a flawless discography.
on any given day of the week, the Wonder Years are the best band to ever come out of pop punk.

Yeah, Dear You is definitely the most polished Jawbreaker album. By a LOT haha

As for entry points, I think White Pony is the best starting point and their best work overall. I think going chronologically from Around the Fur onward would be cool, but I think an argument could easily be made that their last five albums, overall, are stronger than their first five. Great discography. Goats.

Thursday, I think Full Collapse is a good starting point and moving forward from there. Great discography. Goats. Remember when they released a few new songs and then continued playing Full Collapse?

Thrice, start with either The Illusion of Safety or The Artist in the Ambulance and go from there. Beggars was actually the first album I started with, but TAITA is what sparked my love for the band and the rest is history. Great discography. Goats.

Circa Survive, just start with Juturna and ride the wave baby. Fuckin great discography. Dare I say, goats.

I don't mind unpolished. I listen to a lot of black metal, death metal, crust, grindcore, lo-fi, noise, etc. Now I'm really interested in checking out the rest of Jawbreaker lol.
