I admire their restraint in not casting one of Meryl's 3 actress daughters to play young Loretta

Okay so the killer is definitely Donna Demeo (and maybe her son, Cliff, along with her), the Producer(s) of Oliver’s show, right?

Like they made it a point of closing in on Steve Martin during the final stanza of the Pickwick Triplets song:

    Or coochi-coochi-coo,
What if none of it is true?
Has my inspection been too cursory?
Should I look outside this nursery?
What if none of the Pickwick Triplets did it?
Who'd have had a menacing motive and hid it?
    Who? Who? Who?
    Well
    I
    Pick
    You!

So the nursery is the show itself and the triplet suspects have been Loretta, Dickie, annnd I dunno maybe Jonathan or Kimber? Unless Dickie is just the innocent man caught in the fray and the triplets within the show are Loretta, Jonathan, and Kimber. Either way, looking outside the nursery itself you’ve got the people who essentially built it in the first place and Donna says in the bathroom that she’d do anything for her son’s first play to be a success. I definitely don’t fully trust Tobert, but I think I agree - as was previously mentioned in here - that it’s because he’s totally working with Cinda to pull Mabel away from the guys.

I don't really feel confident enough to guess so I'm just gonna say that cursory/nursery rhyme goes HARD

I think it’s Donna. One theory I read zeroed in on her vomiting and adjusting her wig, maybe implying that she has cancer and is more likely to be in fuck-it mode with nothing to lose as she looks to protect her sons’s first play.

Mabel's dream at the start was the most cursed shit I've ever seen. why did they make me see that with my eyes

“I take it you’re the fathers?”
“Yes, that’s right, we’re the Fathers of the Bride.”
    “Oh, that’s fun.”

Got a good laugh from me.

My guess now is that they are correct about Donna trying to kill Ben the first time, but I now think someone else finished the job that second time. Tobert could be a good guess in that he left Ben’s room pretty pissed at him. After finding out he survived the first attempted murder, he could have gone back to Ben’s apartment to try to film him again because that’s a pretty big story. Ben still says no, they get in a scuffle of some sort, shoves him down the elevator shaft, and then tries to cover his tracks. Only reason I don’t love that is because we’ve already been down the road of “love interest is revealed to be the killer” and it’d be kind of weird to do it again. I still think he’s up to something with Cinda Canning though and that she’s going to step back in to the story at the last minute to tee up the next season in some way. I was all in on Loretta being totally innocent, but her reaction to them interrupting the court hearing was a little weird with her line reading of “Well who do you think did it?” I could take that as being apprehensive in case they still thought it was her son, but she could also be attempting to see how well they’ve crafted an argument for someone else being responsible and wanting to see if she might not be willing to jump on that bandwagon.

Really enjoyed this episode and loved Mabel’s narration about how spending her birthday with her guys solving a murder is exactly what she’d wished for. I just love the relationship between the three of them and their social media presence together is just as sweet. Back in the day the natural progression would have been Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Chevy Chase, but I very much enjoy being able to say Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez.

yeah I'm definitely leaning towards two killers here. Kimber hasn't even been seen in like five episodes I don't trust her

did the story of Bunny selling the hankie go somewhere and I forgot or did they just drop that thread?

this was not the best season but it mighta been my favourite. doing the musical stuff was absolutely inspired, it dovetailed with the main plot so well

also yeah that tease was insane! Zazz!!

I gotta say that scene where Loretta told Dickie had me tearing up something fierce, that's the most beautiful moment in all 3 seasons

Meryl Streep is a good person to have on your show, who woulda known folks

Finally watched the whole third season in the last few days and it was just as good as the first two, I loved the scenery change and while it leaned more into the drama than the comedy, the cast really brought it (I've never really seen Martin Short do much serious acting but I thought he was really good here, and so was Paul Rudd; Streep is a given)

The musical sections were really fun too, and while I predicted the killer super early on I did still like the mystery a lot. I love this show
