I'm so glad One Piece exists so she can play the greatest character of all time instead of getting typecast as a Bond girl or something

 

gonna be expensive as hell. I wonder how often they'll show him. and no wonder they couldn't drop the release date lol, post production for a fully-animated main character is gonna be tough

I read spoiler summaries, but not the scans. I need at least some surprise lol.

 

I'm now sub-100 chapters from catching up

 

I’m like 100 episodes away from being caught up and then plan on switching to the manga

 

It's mostly MUCH better. There's are couple things that the anime does better tho

Anyone caught up in the manga? If so,
do you believe that guy we’ve been seeing is Shank’s twin or actually Shanks? Why do these two mysterious people want Loki? Is the bandage girl a devil fruit user, or are the bandages a different kinda power?

My daughter loves the intros, she doesn’t really care much about TV but she likes the music haha

She was definitely my buddy while I powered through the second half of the series.

it's happening dude. Luffy is the best judge of character in the series and he wasn't fazed by him except for the shanks comment, which was just there to set up his inevitable confrontation with Evil Shanks. it's going to fuck him up thinking his hero is actually an asshole.

in fact, straight up I'll bet Loki isn't the villain of the island, it's the God's Knights and maybe Garling. but we still need to see if the silhouette guy is Scopper or Shiki or someone else

Yeah it’s a good rule of thumb to just say that if Luffy isn’t immediately turned off by them, they aren’t going to be a true villain. The only two counter examples I can think of are CP9 and the question of which Vegapunk clone is the traitor, and in both cases Oda did it clearly to not even hint at it for the sake of the twist/reveal

The only other times that come to mind are Bonclay and Aokiji, where they were technically Luffy’s antagonists for a moment but nonetheless good guys in the long term

With basically every other actual villain, Luffy either immediately intuits that they’re no good, or they do something in Luffy’s presence that makes him hate them right away lol
