Just deflating when family members do that. (Could be worse, could be bad politics but whatever)

I saw it with my mom and brother who both got it and enjoyed it. I feel fortunate!

My mom will probably say “that was … interesting,” which means she didn’t like it and didn’t get it but doesn’t want to offend me.

But yeah, I fully expect people to throw this on because of the praise, get on their phones and disengage because of the length and complain that it’s not good. The streaming effect.

I got a normie coworker to watch and enjoy Friendship on a plane and I got a normie dad friend to binge watch the Chair Company, so, I’ll leave 2025 happy even if people I know watch this on HBO Max and think it sucks ass.

Loved loved loved it. If I had to say anything negative it would be the score and don't choices, the song were just a *tad* too on the nose for whatever scene they accompanied.

Give it all the awards. All.

Didn’t get to see it in theaters but seen in twice since its debut on HBO on Friday. Very much top tier PTA and I loved the suspense, humor and action. I found it more enjoyable when I viewed Leo’s paranoid stoner as an inept Coen brothers character.

I enjoy the interpretation of this that says Bob is PTA and this movie tracks his disillusionment with liberalism from Obama to present day.

I’d be curious to know how the ending of this movie reconciles with this interpretation, since it feels more hopeful than disillusionment

Also, very glad I saw Inherent Vice before seeing this…both have very very similar DNA

super fun movie. could've watched a whole movie of just Leo and Benicio Del Toro doing goofy shit as these characters to be honest lol

Hot damn, this film rules. One of the best I have seen in years. I went in completely blind so I was thinking it could have gone in a dozen different directions. Suspenseful, funny, heartfelt. Really fucking great.

My wife liked the movie in theaters more than she expected (as she hates the 2-3 PTA films she’s seen) but she wasn’t fully won over. But yesterday she saw the movie on our HBO Max home screen and she said “I kinda want to watch it again…”

My personal take is that I think OBAA is a crossover movie for PTA, not in terms of a mainstream crossover but in terms of being a movie that hits and entertains regardless of how you feel about PTA’s other stuff. IMO, what makes this movie great is that it is just great filmmaking in general and not specifically that it has PTA’s fingerprints and style over it. One can safely recommend this to any/all PTA haters.

I saw it iMax in the theatre but when I watched it home I felt like I was able to... really see it all? So I get your wife's take.

    Love this movie.

Yeah! I saw it twice in theaters (taking wife the 2nd time) because the first viewing was like unexpectedly riding a rollercoaster and I wanted to see it again and really digest it apart from the initial visceral experience. It was nice to hear she was having that same itch to come back to it again.

Oh yeah finally caught this! Well worth the wait.

The scene where Benicio’s character picks him up from jail then they slam beer and take a selfie? THEN he has him jump out a moving car. Loved that they filmed this all over sac. Recognized the old Regan mansion immediately. Was very cool seeing my boy Douglas from TCC in this too. Was not expecting that.
