I think my brain is the opposite. It knows I can’t pause the movie so it’s like guess what fucker you gotta piss.

I knew they were going to kill him in the office but I still would have been totally fine with the ending being that we see him enjoying the office as his reward. Like, the amount of bigotry and harm that one needs to bring into the world in order to become a Christmas Adventurer, and all you get for it it is a completely bland corner office, and your soul is so empty that it actually does bring you bliss lol

First viewing of this was opening weekend in Vistavision at the Vista in Hollywood with a sold out crowd.

Second viewing of this was tonight at a mall movie theater on a regular screen with 3 people in the theater (2 of whom left halfway through).

Movie still ripped. One of my favorite movies in a long long while.

Has anyone besides me posted in here that they weren't a fan of this? I feel like I'm the only one, haha

Fully not liking this movie is kinda wild to me. There are some elements that I’m not sure how I felt about them, but so much of it is just so fun and well executed that, like. Idk. It’s hard to imagine leaving the theater with feelings that lean negative, lol.

The anti-Licorice Pizza people are waiting but you are starting to see them pop up.

What didn't you like about it? I think the prologue was a bit underbaked but everything from the time jump on rocked.

I think I just didn't vibe with it, the style of film it was. I just didn't care all that much about the characters. Some of the weirdness of it didn't connect with me either. It's a very well put together film, a singular vision executed well, but just not the type of film I gravitate towards.

My colleague here at work liked it even less than I did, haha

Hard to push back against, haha. I think the weirdness is what pushes it to the next level. I don't think the film is what it is without the Christmas Adventurer stuff, but I could see how that comes across like a South Park bit or something.

i found the prologue a little whatever until i started to think there was a purposeful opacity to the initial era. there was a minute there where i wasn't sure if there was actually going to be a time jump and i grew to like that vagueness quite a bit

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

the prologue was fantastic imo, incredible sense of momentum. whole movie is so kinetic

The prologue was absolutely the weakest bit for me. Some stuff that ruled in that chunk, but it was a mixed bag that had me thinking, oh no I’m not gonna like this as much as everyone else. But then, of course, it fully clicks into place afterwards.

My biggest nitpick after the time jump was the one queer kid being the one who we see collaborate. Hits real weird for me in the context of the rest of the movie.
