I’ll see this a second time if it’s still playing in IMAX next week. I want to see that final chase in the proper format.

At the Vista, they were handing out punch cards for like 8 different formats/screenings that you could the movie in and receive a hole punch for. I looked at it and my brain just wouldn’t allow me to grab it from the guy who was handing it to me. That’s a level of coastal big city cinema fan that I don’t have the free brain energy to even conceptualize.

I try not to take for granted living near LA as a movie fan. LA movie heads can be insufferable though lol.

Speaking of, for folks who saw this at normal screenings outside of LA/NY etc, were your crowds just laughing hysterically at Lockjaw in every scene? I felt like most of his time on screen was definitely meant to be funny but there were a few times where I wondered if the intention was to be more serious or to invest some stakes into the story and my LA crowd were just jumping the gun laughing in those moments too.

I feel like I was the only one laughing in my 1/4 full theatre in a liberal area in the midwest. Even my buddy next to me - who shares my sense of humor - was taking things more seriously during their first view but then lightened up on it all after processing it afterwards.

I think the film started serious to a degree but also it wasn't entirely clear where the story was going at first. Once it got locked in a groove after the time skip is when it started getting funnier.

Yeah movie is pretty much perfect on second viewing. Del Toro was easily my favorite on this viewing. A few small beers.

Saw this on 70mm last night. Insane how much better it was in presentation than standard IMAX.

Dying to see this a second time in IMAX but Avatar has stolen most of the time slots and I also need to catch The Smashing Machine, Anemone and Are We Good. Might pull an all-dayer at the theater Sunday.

Ive been pondering a more conventional climax where the assassin goes to check lockjaw’s body in the car but lockjaw shoots him and steals his car, and he is instead the one that Willa has to kill. Would be maybe more emotionally impactful, but then we’re robbed of his chilling and hilarious ultimate demise and the “semon demon” convo.

But then they’d have to change the name of the movie to One Conclusive Battle After Some Others.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

just saw this again with the homie, even better the second time. Benicio's line read on "that's heavy metal bro" is so good
