My brother randomly suggested we go to the movies tomorrow so I suggested this film (because it looks like the only thing out right now worth seeing that my mom could also watch). We'll see!

    Great fucking movie.

I also would say it pairs extremely well with Eddington which is fitting considering they are the best two things I’ve seen this year by a country mile.

    This whipped so much ass.

And absolutely see it in IMAX. That car chase felt like my chair was going on those hills.

  9. isnt that jackson guy notorious for having bad takes no actual film fan would take seriously? like, he got popular talking about marvel movies on tiktok or something but has terrible taste (unlike jstoobs who also got popular talking about marvel movies on tiktok but has impeccable taste)

i was 50/50 on going to see this today but at the last minute didn't feel like going out. honestly a bit more interested now that i've seen the hype in this thread

I was not planning on seeing it in IMAX but I guess now I should. I can't remember such unanimous praise in a long time time, maybe Boyhood?

Saw it a second time. I feel more comfortable calling it a masterpiece and most likely, an instant classic. The hype is real. My favorite movie of the 2020s thus far

Need to see this again. Had to pee from the moment it started so it definitely dampened my viewing a bit since there really aren’t any times to leave the theater (lol). As it stands, 4/5 for me but definitely see me loving it with time.

side note - watched Magnolia for the first time in a decade a few days ago. Watching that as a college student, I gave it a calm 2.5 stars because I did NOT get it. Upon rewatch, it hit such a strong chord this time around and immediately rose to 5 stars lol the power of PTA

One of my best friends told me they weren’t interested in One Battle After Another because they watched Magnolia when they were young and hated it. A really disappointing thing to hear from someone I love and who is very into movies; that they will hardly consider another movie from a director with so many esteemed movies just because they saw one movie once and didn’t like it. I feel weird posting about an irl friend here but it felt dismissive and it made me sad.

Anyway, really hoping I can catch this again either this weekend or next.
