Shutter Island is one of Scorsese's worst films.

Shutter Island was a big disappointment for me. Saw it once in the theaters and was surprised at the reception it got.

Leo’s best performance: Wolf of Wall Street
Pitt’s best performance: honestly probably Moneyball but I haven’t seen Ad Astra yet

I actually think PSH was quite handsome

Not the same physique as a Pitt or Leo sure, but handsome imo

Shutter Island was fine to me, didn’t dislike it but didn’t love it either, but that’s also kind of the problem isn’t it

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

Pitt's best is Burn After Reading for my money. he's pretty great in Twelve Monkeys too

Pitt’s best was Fight Club because it exposed the snowflake mentality and us white men are oppressed who are slaves to IKEA and we need to expel our aggression through violence and credit card companies need to be destroyed and Meat Loaf is right climate change is a hoax.

The fact that he isnt overly handsome like LDC or Pitt helps that role too. You could walk in knowing how Brad Pitt could be a charming cult leader so its less disarming but PSH catches you off guard and, as you said, sells it incredibly.

Lupita is someone who I would give an unmarked script to and say pick a role and she would be incredible no matter what. Jared Harris, having only seen him in three things, is terrific.

Brad Pitt has this charm about him that occasionally affects my view of his more serious performances. He did great in Ad Astra but I remember at least a scene or two where I couldn't separate him from his character. In OUATIH he leans into that charm which makes the role work so well.

If the conversation is most CHARMING actor instead of straight-up best I think Pitt is an easy contender, his characters are super likable in even his weakest movies

It drives my mind crazy that we’ll never know if he was guilty or not but PSH knew.

The moment when Streep reveals she lied about contacting his former parish is what makes that ending so incredible for me. Even if he wasn’t guilty of that specific abuse, although I think he was, he clearly WAS guilty of abusing children in the past.
