On the Rocks (Sofia Coppola, October 2020) Movie

Murray and Coppola working together again, with a nice addition of Rashida Jones!

Hits Apple TV+ in October, the first movie (I believe?) of the A24/Apple relationship.

 

How does this deal work? Will I eventually be able to watch this outside of Apple TV+?

 

Hard to say. I haven't seen any of the Apple TV+ content for sale outside of Apple TV+, but it's possible there's like, a period of exclusivity.

That was a bad trailer. Usually her films have had some really good ones.

 

The reviews make it sound like it might be her best work since A Very Murray Christmas. It is hard to see how limited the release actually is, though.

This was perfectly fine, but will we ever get the old Coppola back?

 

old coppola was, what? two movies, the most recent of which was 17 years ago?

 

Marie Antoinette and Somewhere are both great.

 

Bummed that I was so disappointed by this.

 

my feelings as well. A very conventional film with enough of Coppola's touch to separate it from lesser directors, but nowhere near my expectations for the quality of Sofia Coppola.

 

This was fine. I’m over Bill Murray though.

Didn’t love On the Rocks but always looking forward to Sofia Coppola

 

She has done enough to earn an automatic viewing, but The Bling Ring, On the Rocks, and the Beguiled is a really rough stretch.

 

Just watched The Beguiled last night and thought it rocked lol

 

On the rocks was just boring and pointless
