Heartache is my favourite on this album, tbh.

I like that song but I've never understood how he switches from "I know WHERE your heartache exists" to "It's WHEN you are alone"

 

The spatial element of “where” the heartache exists happens during certain temporal occurrences of being alone and being around him, which must take place in a given setting (spatial).

So essentially, Greg uses the “when” to signify that the heartache exists in multiple geographies (“where”) of proximity, that of being alone and around him.
