The self-titled album is really great stuff. Dan has a great voice and the band is filled out with fantastic musicians. There’s a lot of cool technical stuff happening throughout the record but the way it’s all structured, they don’t lose any accessibility. Can’t recommend it enough
I watched good 4 u's performance last and was wondering why the backing band line-up was slightly different until... I realized she was hugging Daniel Nigro on bass at the end!!
I’ll have to check them out when I get off work! For some reason I always forget about SNL until the next day haha
Good for the As Tall As Lions dude. They were literally the third band on every tour back in the day. Never knew he was a pop producer
I actually wiped a couple tears watching Dan’s glowing smile and her turning immediately around to hug him. After rooting for him for so many years, it was very cathartic.
the man has made some of my favorite songs of all time with ATAL and these three songs with Olivia are right up there with them
Those SNL performances weren’t my thing but she’s pretty early in her live career. I’m happy Nigro is getting to have an Antonoff moment, hope it leads to more original music from him. This album is really going to be a perfect summer record.
correct me if i’m wrong but he’s primarily been a songwriter and not a producer until recently, right?
nah he’s produced for some people. like he worked on Caroline polachek’s debut, among others. Nothing as high profile as this though Edit: missed the word recently in your post lol
but he’s also done just writing work as well, check his Wikipedia page although I’m sure it’s not fully complete
