this is the main reason I still lean toward digital file downloads rather than streaming. Even though spotify claims 320kbps, it still sounds... less than. Like going back and forth between the same song on Spotify's desktop app versus the 320 mp3 via itunes, it's a stark difference. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but the audio quality of spotify just isn't the same.
Got hard back into buying CDs during the pandemic because they’re usually cheap, sound great, and the vinyl economy mixed with pressing inconsistency makes that money pit less worth it to me increasingly
streaming is also very fickle so if you have a way to play physical media you should probably keep it around because you don't know when you'll need it
Yeah there’s just no comparison when I play the two in my car. I have to turn my speakers up line 6-7 settings higher to get the same jolt out of a song as the CD
fooor sure, I have so much content in my music library that doesn't exist on Spotify, and anytime I see complaints about X or Y not being available on streaming, it doesn't even matter.
If only there was a platform that combines the best of all the worlds, high quality streaming, downloads, and your entire library of files. That sure would be cool.
apple music won’t have cd quality streaming until next month. it’s been a service for over half a decade now
Especially if, like me, you like to blind buy stuff that looks cool to check it out. It’s why I basically only buy vinyl that’s like $1 or less
Having local files mixed in my Spotify playlist definitely makes it apparent how much better download is than streaming
I listened to both these songs in the car today because of this commentary. They are in no way the "same song" and I don't think they were copied off of each other. I'd never get confused as to what song I was listening to. The lyrics are different, the story in the song is different, it moves differently musically. Sure, they're the same genre sounding with female singers and a similar tempo but I think that's where it kind of ends. I'm not a music production guy so maybe there's a better take than mine. You're telling me you can't find crossover between most pop punk songs? Remember that chord song guy who essentially showed that all pop music is similar? Both songs rule and that's where I'm at.
I mean, I don’t think they’re as similar as a lot of other people do, but no one I’ve seen has made the comparison feel degrading or sexist. If anything, I think most people would agree that the influence is cool and flattering. There are lot of times when Paramore feels like a lazy reference point chosen just because a female artist is singing over electric guitars, but this isn’t one of them.
Yeah I think you're just digging into it too deep. Saying two songs are the same like that isn't a dig at either nor is it an accusation. I could say that Modern Vampires of the City is '10s Rhythm of the Saints and both of those albums are in my top 10 for their respective decades.
Maybe those words are too charged and I'll edit them, but I feel like it's a point just cause there isn't enough representation of female artists in the rock genre and that the differences are being magnified that wouldn't be magnified between two male artists. It takes away credit from her when it shouldn't.
Sorry, no problem with the mashup itself! It's cool! Yea this is a big part of what I was trying to say which you put a bit more clearly.
I don’t know when the “You won’t BELIEVE which song this new hit single rips off” clickbait thing became the CinemaSins of music but it makes me irrationally aggravated. I’m not saying those are the words people in here have used. But there’s like an entire clickbait infrastructure JUST for that shit.
I definitely prefer the more upbeat stuff, and tik tok sort of ruined that drivers license song for me, but this is very good. Brutal is a hell of an opener. and at first I thought Happier was boring but at the end I was almost crying. What a debut.
