I was the kid in high school who proudly showed my love for Mandy Moore and Hilary Duff's music just as much as all the punk and emo bands I liked. No shame whatsoever.
100% me with Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" album, until it was agreed that it was good across the board.
Man, I love this. She and Dan make such a good duo. As strong a debut as you could dream to make. Solid album that absolutely foreshadows how much room there is to grow. Scary that her voice is only going to improve with time
I'm thinking it's a reaction to Beyoncé putting the songs of her self-titled as all caps. Someone (Hyden?) had a good tweet about this the other day actually. They said "streaming services, please just let artists pick the font of their songs so they stop stylizing the titles to drive awareness."
I wish I had that maturity and confidence back in HS lol It took me into my 30s to get to the point where I can without shame announce that I'm obessesed with someone like Olivia Rodrigo's talent.
I’m in a post hardcore band now and recently we each made personal Spotify playlists to promote on our band’s socials. Everyone else in the band has playlists of what you’d probably expect from a post hardcore musician, but mine is all over the place because that’s just how I have always rolled. I think on mine, it goes from Vein to Donna Lewis back to back. Completely polar opposites haha.
Liking pop music got me called a lot of slurs in HS, so I might not have broadcast my love of this loudly, but I’d absolutely have been rocking it on the sly
It doesn’t bother me THAT much (versus all-caps titles, which I just re-title them in iTunes) but I also wouldn’t be mad if the trend went away.
Chorus of “good 4 u” makes me think of Kirsten Dunst dancing around her bedroom in Bring It On which is probably the highest compliment I could give anything
