Clearly a lot of people give a shit about this type of thing or Billboard charts wouldn’t be posted on this website every week, along with updated RIAA certifications. But yes they both will sell an obscene amount and that’s ultimately what matters since it’s good for the industry we all care about.
it's a discussion always whenever dealing with massive pop stars it's also been incredibly civil? why is it bothering you so much lol
I just think there is some odd mental gymnastics going on in this thread. There are artists who have been listed as contenders who have never even sniffed Adele’s sales figures. I’m less surprised that people think Olivia might run the table this year (absolutely possible) than I am that people are acting like it’s an impossibility for the person with the two bestselling albums of the past decade to maybe be a possible contender for the top slot.
I think it’s very silly to go back and forth about whether Olivia or Adele or anyone else will sell more records. Either one of them could very easily have the highest sales numbers of the year. One of them also hasn’t even announced an album. If people want to continue bringing it up that’s fine but I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think it’s a dumb conversation
For real though I am very interested to see how this does week one. Obviously #1, but we talking 500k, 1 mil units?
Anyway I know my mom knows who Olivia is bc she texted me the music video for good 4 u and said “this has your high school years vibes”. She was not wrong
Olivia will sell even more now that it's been revealed that there's a Taylor Swift sample on a song, and they recently met up, etc. Switfties will definitely help this album explode. Olivia's got some extra wind under her wings, as if she even needed it. Adele has the "mystery factor" so curious people will jump on that. First week sales will probably huge for Adele, but I wouldn't be surprised if that wave tapers off pretty quick. Olivia's wave is just going to grow and grow, I think.
You haven’t heard about her new concept record surrounding her recent move to the country and her quest for self-sufficiency, aptly titled The Farmer in Adele?
Pre-pandemic, it was touted by her/her manager to be a September 2020 release. So, I'm guessing they've been waiting for touring options to open up. I'd be very surprised if we don't get it this year.
I can't believe how excited I am to hear this, considering how indifferent I was the first time I heard drivers license I was wrong
this sounds accurate in terms of sales, but including streaming equivalent numbers, I think there's a real chance her numbers will be closer to 1 mil
She's gotta be the purest Taylor disciple we've gotten yet. The ballads on this album are like straight out of a Speak Now songwriting masterclass.
