“You said it was true love But wouldn't that be hard? You can't love anyone 'Cause that would mean you had a heart” I mean, that is away message material if I’ve ever seen it
Since I’m the only one that has called it safe in here I feel the need to respond and say I agree! It’s just not the move I expected her to make is all
I can’t imagine what the conversation looked like of how to reintroduce herself. There’s a pretty high level of difficulty for following up a debut album that big with singles that beloved. If I had to guess, there were riskier options on the table and we’ll hear those soon.
I don’t know if anyone’s said it already, but lyrically these verses are giving me strong TSwift vibes.
Musically and song structure wise, I like it. The lyrics and the need of like 10 curse words I don't like.
Totally normal for people not to want to hear a bunch of cussing in songs. To me it just comes off as corny when a repeating chorus has a couple throughout the song. There are so many other words to express emotions rather than the same few cuss words lol
I actually probably hear more boomers cussing more daily than anyone else so that’s a contradiction. Those elderly like to cuss
Idk, people can have whatever kinda relationship with whatever kinda language they want, lol. If someone doesn’t find joy in the word “fuck,” that’s their prerogative (as long as they’re not, like, a cop about it). That being said, this particular song is definitely well written and “earns” its vulgarity, if that’s a thing you care about. The whole thing builds so well, and the last couple lines of the chorus are a great release of tension every time. Which, effective catharsis is just generally one of Rodrigo’s best strengths imo.
It was weird to me when people said they would prefer the edited version of Midnights, and it’s weird to me in this instance, too. Serious question: does this aversion to curse words only apply to female pop singers or do you try to avoid all art with cursing?
OliRod saying “fuck.” Yuck! Blink-182 saying “shit piss fuck **** cocksucker motherfucker tits fart turd and twat” This song spanks!
Any gender for bands/artists apply for me. Same goes for movies as well. I’ve just never been a fan of cursing. There’s times when it works if it feels natural, earned/cathartic, or used for comedic effect, but when it feels forced or overdone I just kind of roll my eyes. I think growing up and hearing adults around me all my childhood cursing non stop turned me off to wanting to hear it a lot now that I’m older. I understand why some people like cursing though because when used right it’s powerful.
