Well, this is surprisingly good, huh? Really wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did. Digging some of the mid 90's alt rock vibes running throughout.
I've decided that "bad idea right?" remains my favorite song on the album (and maybe favorite of the year) but the b-side of this record is wayyyyy better than the a-side. favorite five tracks: 1. bad idea right? 2. pretty isn't pretty 3. all-american bitch 4. love is embarrassing 5. get him back!
I feel like there's so much talk about her rockers versus her piano ballads, but "Pretty Isn't Pretty" really makes me want to hear more of her in that kind of lush, gorgeous mid-tempo vein. Feels like new territory for her.
finally gave the album a full listen and I mostly enjoyed it. don't love the sing/talk thingy she does though.
As for top tracks? I think the last five song run is the top five, in no particular order. One of them rare back-loaded albums.
not sure i love the sequencing of this. it seems like every time it gets going there's another ballad to slow things down. and some of them are just okay, where all of the faster songs are pretty excellent.
