This is really freaking fun. I'm with everyone else thus far that she shows so much more range/dynamics on the upbeat tracks, but the ballads are all fine to good, too, with a couple really standing out. I'm glad she's leaning more heavily into the rock tendencies at a bunch of points, here. She's really good at it.

I liked Sour, but I didn't find myself revisiting it all that often because I just couldn't identify with most of the lyrics. This one is so much more varied and mature.

 

It’s nice to see a huge artist feature the guitar so prominently.

 

To me, it sounds like it’s building to the next track or at least could segue into something else.

 

It actually reminds me of a DIFFERENT Smashing Pumpkins song -- Silvery Sometimes(Ghosts)

Best song on the album. I've probably listened to it at least ten times today.

 

Love "Vampire" more every time I hear it. On "Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl" now and loving it and the opener is great too. I really like her writing.

All pop music is a mash of different pop music but she has a magnifying glass on her for whatever reason

 

She got dinged for copywrite infringement on the last album. I don’t mean it to be negative. it’s kind of just a part of modern pop music. particularly with young artists who do a lot of co-writing. big fan of this album front to back

 

I know, the term ripping off just feels overly negative to me

 

meant to be hyperbolic not serious! i really like the music and think it’s very original while sprinkling in a lot of nods and throwbacks.

 

Also, y'know, in making a well-sequenced album with some rise-and-fall.

 

I'm so fucking impressed with this. Both she and Dan really honed some of the skills they've shown before to a knife-edge. Olivia has some vocals on this that are just jaw-dropping in the almost acting she manages to put into them. Talk about being able to sell a lyric.

 

Oh yeah I'm aware, it was more of a joke than a criticism. Still love the ballads, even though I prefer the uptempo stuff

 

This is a total home run. Loved Sour, impressed that this feels like such a massive step forward. Kind of felt like the album Kat from 10 Things I Hate About You would write. She’s on a roll
