Raye, Caroline Polachek, 100 gecs, Fall Out Boy, snakehips, Kesha, Janelle Monae, Kelly Clarkson, Dominic Fike, Mahalia, Carly Rae Jepsen... that's where I'm at so far
Aside from Caroline, Wednesday and Indigo De Souza best albums of the year, and Ratboys is shaping up to be an AOTY contender. There are great albums this year IMHO.
You’re all wrong. SZA is going to be Pitchfork’s AOTY. My favorites so far are Wednesday, SZA, Lana, Florry, feeble little horse, Superviolet, Billy Woods and Kenny Segal, Home is Where, Youth Lagoon, 100 gecs Anticipated: Buck Meek, The Armed, Wilco, Jeff Rosenstock, Vagabon, MJ Lenderman, Ratboys, Olivia Rodrigo But I too also think this has been the most down year for music that I can remember. I think my top 3 are really the only ones that have absolutely bowled me over.
Ah yes, the noted 2023 album that came out on December 9, 2022. (You’re right though, they will totally do this when they run their best of the year list in October.)
Wait, did Carly Rae have a new release this year? I’ve weirdly fallen way off on keeping up with her. Anyways, yeah, this new Olivia Rodrigo song rulez.
it's been a great year bc 1. pj harvey released a new album 2. meshell ndegeocello released a new album 3. everything but the girl released a new album 4. everyone forgot about kelela but kelela released a new album
Everyone should listen to the Blondshell album from earlier this year, a pretty good debut and I feel Olivia fans would be very into it.
She opened for Suki Waterhouse last year and is opening for Liz Phair this fall and released her debut album earlier this year and she kinda blew up out of nowhere (she was making music under a different band prior.) She also has a Samia cover on the album. When the album dropped they were promoting the heck out of it everywhere it seemed, which isn’t a bad thing cause it’s good.
it isn't really "out of nowhere," her dad is incredibly rich and has tons of industry connections, but her music also rocks so i don't really care about that
Loving this, but not so on how I can't/don't want my kids to listen to it, since my oldest loves her.
Didn’t like the new song at all aside from the bass. It’s the first song from her I just outright didn’t enjoy.
I've listened to the new song on repeat I love it so much. I swear the good sis is like "what exactly does kiana want?" And then she delivers. Hope she has a bigger tour this time around. I honestly expected her to do another on Sour since she played such small venues before.
