Song is super good. Haven’t listened to this band in like a decade or more, gonna run through the discog before this comes out to hear what I’ve missed
Just caught up with Away after kinda falling off with this band but my god, that's easily their 2nd best album Completely reinvented their sound and rejuvenated the group count me in for this one
I need to revisit Away. Pressing play. Edit: ah, yes. This album is painfully beautiful. But the songs are long and demand your attention, which is why I don’t go back to it as much as their poppier stuff like stage names / stand-ins.
Away is one of my favorite albums ever and kept me sane in a hard part of my life. It made this band an all-timer for me, so yeah, I’m really excited about this new one.
Can’t think of many recent bands that have been taken for granted as much as Okkervil River. Just consistently good to great. And Black Sheep Boy and Stage Names are classics. So odd that they can be such an after thought.
I thought their last album was pretty good, but dragged on at times. This one sounds more energetic and I'm pretty excited!
Black Sheep Boy makes me feel a certain way the rest of their catalogue is kind of hit and miss to me but that LA song is dope - v much looking fwd to this one
wow aregala is correct again. (i think it's actually their best album) new songs haven't been exciting me but i love the sound of "famous tracheotomies"
I’ve seen people shitting on this elsewhere, but it seems pretty good to me. It’s a whole lot more accessible and fun than I’m used to from them. I really want to get some time with the lyrics in front of me though.
Haven’t spent as much time with this as I thought I immediately would. Enjoyed most of my listens enough though
