Just got into their debut recently, actually. Not a masterpiece or anything, but one of the better albums from the genre/era.
I'm no expert or anything, but Children of Fire has got to be one of the best metalcore albums of the last ten years. Super underrated band. Can't wait to hear the new full-length soon.
They just dropped a new song a few hours ago. Mouse also announced on IG that he's not in the band anymore; super bummer, as that probably signals the end of Oh Sleeper after this next album drops.
My enjoyment for most metalcore has quickly waned as time passes. My enjoyment for this band hasn't waned at all. This single just reinforces it. The entire band just encapsulates what it means to be "tight".
Bummer that someone else apparently left the band, they've already had their fair share of lineup changes recently.
"lol" sorry, none of their official accounts/bios ever listed someone named Mouse. anyway, I don't see Oh, Sleeper ever really ending unless Micah & Shane abandon the ship.
Yeah, it was a few years back they went by nicknames on posts; not on official bios or anything like that though, you're right. Here's one Facebook status for reference: Oh, Sleeper temporarily rejoining with ex-guitarist James ErwinMetal Insider Hopefully they don't, and this band ends up as a collaborative Norma Jean-style effort between musicians. What's your favorite album?
The new Tooth & Nail podcast features an interview with Shane Blay. Has anyone listened to it? Very interesting. Listening to the lyric process I've got a lot of respect for him and Micah.
Yesterday was the 10 year anniversary of 'When I Am God': Lyrically it is still my favourite album by them. So many good songs that still hold up. I love the warfare themes and the way the album flows from front to back. WE ARE THE ARCHERRRRSS! WE ARE THE ARCHERRRRRSS!
Oh man, I listened to that first album so many times. Kinda stopped listening after that. Is their later stuff any good?
To be honest, I prefer When I Am God to what followed but I know a lot of people feel they got stronger as time went on with those three albums on Solid State. There are tracks that are fantastic on those two releases though. If you like the first album I'm sure you'd enjoy them. I haven't listened to anything that followed that though. I think there is an EP or two.
Charlatan's Host was my jam. Being fortunate enough to live in DFW during the When I Am God/Son Of The Morning period was a blast.
