oh yeah another super helpful thing that has saved me some grief: when you're in a dungeon (forest/cave/ruins), torches will illuminate the path to where you're supposed to go. Obviously there will be dead ends/offshoots/nooks with chests but they will be unlit. The torches lead directly to the objective.

For interior dungeons like mansions, I think this is consistent with red carpet guiding the way but I haven't paid as much attention there

Also don’t forget to save in dungeons lol I found a level 30 spot looted everything then faced the boss and died and lost about 45 minutes of progress

Luckily I love this game and after that happened I did it all over again and realized I had the 100k required for the boat so I didn’t get to try the boss again yet lol

the combat is so good in this game I didn’t even realize how long I had grinded and not only did I get the boat but Osvlad is up to 37 and everyone is just about north of 30 so I can start my chapter 3’s and 4’s

I never mind going out and grinding when a games combat system justifies it

Damn I’m so over levelled that I’m smashing Chapter 2 bosses in a few turns without taking much damage. Not even fun lol.

I like that the option to do that is here though because that’s how RPGs were back in the day. I do also like the slight level scaling you get in some zones danger levels but keeping the chapters and bosses at a static levels offers the freedom to take them on whether youre under or over leveled. also personally I feel like the required level for everyone’s chapter 2-4 is spread out enough that while I may be over leveled for one I can be barely strong enough for the next depending on who it is and who I have in my party

Yeah. My main is level 30 and all others are low 20s and I’m seeing things with recommended levels under 10 or low teens….smashing a boss in 3 turns is pretty lame. No more exploring for me until I’ve done all the main quest stuff

some of the crossed paths missions are super low by the time you get to them but yeah the main missions are gonna start being spread out between 20-mid 30s

Just smashed Temenos’ chapter 2 on the first break with Hikari’s EX lol

Yeah the chapter 2 recommended levels are really low, there's a pretty big jump from most second to third chapters.

Also Partitio's chapter 3 boss is by far the most annoying so far.

I’m already back up to 43k leaves after buying the boat and more equipment. Osvlad is 41 everyone else is 30-34. I have the extra money skill equipped to someone at all times, I steal a bunch of shit in every town, I always forget to collect during battle but I’ve opened red chests with 12k-25k leaves in them just from exploring every single area thoroughly

also found the first rusty weapon in the sand dungeon that’s level 30. looks like the town for armsmaster is about 45 tho.

I'm assuming there's actually a lot more places that open up when you buy the boat? I saw it and at the time it was like 99% o of my money so I said hell nah.

I don't buy anything though. I feel like everytime you buy a good weapon you just find something better right after anyways.

I was the same way because I was early 20s when I stumbled on the boat but it seems as you get to 30’s the money flows a lot more freely. But yeah the high seas are a solid place to grind because it’s above my lower characters but well below my main so it’s not a cakewalk but it’s no trouble and good exp. Lots of good items and leaves to find out there too. Some of the secret areas are 45 and up so I haven’t checked them out yet.

Partitio's Chapter 4 is only accessible by boat, and there's a level 48 (I think) dungeon in the sea as well. Tons of chests floating around, including the aforementioned EXP Augmentor which is a must.

I will say, gear matters so much in this game. It's true that the best weapons come from chests/drops/NPCs but having a well equipped team makes a huge difference.

The cool thing is that you can bring him one weapon at a time to unlock that skill, and talking to him once opens up the job. I've managed to get 3 Rusty weapons so far, need to find the other ones.
