I like how it's not as linear so far. First one almost every chapter was new town, story bit that requires a path action, dungeon, boss, end. From what I've played so far this seems way more varied in chapter structure, which I love.
Also if you pre-ordered the game, you can go to any tavern and collect your pre-order bonus which includes a bunch of healing items and 5000 leaves
after four chapter ones it’s safe to say the writing here took a ridiculous step up from the first game. like holy shit. the first game feels like the writing was shoehorned in after the general concept was the main focus of the project. since they already had the general template to work with here it feels like they were able to fully flesh out these characters and give them unique and meaningful motivations and backstories
So far I've smacked all of them. Haven't done Ochette yet though. I usually grind a little before each one to grab a level or two extra.
The key to the ochette fight for me was picking up that one monster that does arrow attack to all, which is the creep’s weak point in the boss battle. Got real lucky there.
I’m doing chapter 2’s and man, it just keeps getting better. Also just been wandering and found the cleric job which is so helpful because I can have a healer no matter my party make up. Played legit all day yesterday and will today too.
I see I’ll be in the minority here but despite loving the setting, Osvald’s prologue so far is testing my patience. Just beat his first(?) boss. that said good god his magic is *pretty*
I’m nearly finished with chained echoes (I think), and the posts in here got me too hyped so I guess this will be the next big jrpg I get obsessed with
yeah oddly enough the reason I kinda fell off Chained Echoes was because it looked kinda bland having played things like Octopath and with Sea of Stars also delivering (eventhough with the weird fucking Jordan Peterson caveat ughhh)
How is it? I go back to it in small chunks like twice a month and always enjoy the story line. I am about halfway through and its been solid so far.
I love that Ochette automatically catches monsters if she attacks them with low HP. I snagged a Queen Octopuff accidentally this way and now I can use it to majorly debuff all enemies Also if you haven't played the first one, this is one of those JRPGs where buffs and debuffs REALLY work
The first time that happened I thought I accidentally chose capture, really convenient because sometimes on auto pilot I’ll kill something before realizing I could’ve captured it
Loving it! Hopefully it stick the landing, but otherwise story and combat system are some of my favorite in a while.
there seems to be a pretty wide range of level requirements to get going on everyone’s chapter 2’s which is nice
