Im happy to hear about some of these changes. I’m in the chapter 3’s now on OT 1 and I liiiiiiiike the game, but I’m not sure I love it, owing mostly to the monotonous structure and bland stories. The open structure is a cool idea, but I’ve found it sucks out any sense of dramatic development. I don’t feel like I’m in the midst of a story, I don’t feel like the drama is escalating or like the story is going anywhere. The gameplay is a lot of fun, and I love micromanaging a job system, but every time I start a new chapter it almost feels like a chore. I’ve yet to actually skip the cut scenes, but I’m finding them dreadfully dull.
Picked up Throné to start cause she was hot. Only about 25 minutes in, not sure I want to burn through my 3 hours tonight and tomorrow and have to wait for the game.... I probably will though.
I think I'll probably play the first chapter of every character now on a separate file maybe and then skip them when I recruit them in the full game. Kind of a waste of time but I need MORE.
I've noticed there is a lot more voice acting, for even smaller scenes. And the option to speed up battle is a godsend.
never finished the first one but loved what i did play, didnt really feel the need to pick it back up after the new one was announced since it will presumably fix the few issues the first one has.
I gotta rob them then interrogate them then duel them lol at least on Switch, press the start button during combat - it makes the speed 2x
damn you can only have one save slot for the demo. Guess I'll keep my Throne/Temenos/Oswald file going and just play around with other characters on new files and not save them. Started Hikari's chapter last night and it was so damn cool. I love his blue mage type ability to learn enemy skills. Also yeah, chapters are seemingly way less linear this time around. I'm liking it.
I just finished Hikari’s first chapter. I found that more engaging than any other first chapter story I played in the first game. It feels like there is more voice acting this time around? I like the night and day switch and how you can do that on command. Faster battle speed is nice. Good stuff. Ultimately I still think I tire easily on the random battles when exploring.
Played the demo a bit more, and I kind of wish the day/night system was dynamic vs user controlled. I would rather not have think about it. I do like that it makes grinding/leveling up a touch easier at user discretion though.
Ha, I’m a total of a couple hours into the demo for II and I only just found out you can have canoe battles on water.
lol this game comes out next Friday, which is the day before I pick up the moving truck for a cross country move. I'll play it Friday night but spend all Saturday packing and all Sunday/Monday on the road. You better believe I'll lose sleep playing it in the hotel I'm staying at alone in Mississippi Sunday night lol
Scholar is always a good choice, revealing weaknesses is clutch. Plus his story is fkin awesome so far
