Saw this again yesterday and while I don't necessarily buy into the cat spirit theory, it is fun to look at some of what happens through that lens. It could certainly be framed that Nikki vomits up a hairball in the one scene when Bear comes back to the house and shes all gross. At any rate, the last 5 minutes of this still go so hard. Once Bear comes back to the house after Ian wishes for the money, it's pure intensity

That lost me about halfway through, but the detail about his grandma’s house is pretty good. Though I suppose I realistically would not expect much more from a 20-something year old dude making probably minimum wage in the interior design regard
i gotchu fam but for future reference, make sure you're getting the url from your browser rather than from the share button in-app. so after tiktok.com, instead of /t/ZP8p3KSvU/ use /@mandibossard/video/7643123124812221710 the embed would therefore look like [ MEDIA=tiktok]7643123124812221710[/MEDIA ]
Went in for a second viewing tonight since I flew solo the first time and knew my wife would appreciate seeing this before it left theaters
I missed the tattoos as well but that’s a good detail. This has probably already been addressed in here, but I think one of the few things that felt a little out of place for me here was the cat sandwich.. Was there a reason for that I’m missing? Is it just to show that even crossing that line had him defending her (and in turn his actions)? And do we assume it was meant as a loving gesture, albeit twisted because demon?
I interpret it as the entity doesn’t really understand how humans work and their rules / norms and is legit trying to do something nice for him but just doesn’t understand
Yeah, that tracks, especially with the little “memorial” she set up, haha. I guess it makes sense that because he didn’t like that, she’d try something else!
Just saw this. So many thoughts: -This was one of the most upsetting movies I've seen since Hereditary. I saw the ending coming where he would kill himself and she'd wake up not knowing what was going on but even the bad ending I expected happened in an even worse way than I imagined. -Most horror movies escalate to a point of no return for the lead, but this felt unique because it was really over the moment he broke the willow and she appeared on the porch. Once you learn the nature of the wish, you realize there was never any hope from the beginning. -Both leads were wonderful, but Inde should get awards for what she does here. Scariest performance I've seen in a long time. Also, as upsetting as it was, I laughed real.hard at a few moments: -The reddit threads about the one wish willow killed me. "My mom has been ugly her whole life and now she's beautiful!" -The death monologue and her description of death being as terrifying as any I've ever heard, just to.follow it with a chipper, "Or you can stay!" -His helpless wailing while a billion dollars rained from the ceiling was so hysterical to me. Like something from a nightmare that's really funny on reflection. -The guy at the shop casually telling him he can kill himself. Honestly, can't find much to fault the movie for other than being so dark I can't see myself watching it again, at least for a while.
Great movie. How is there discourse around Bear? It's clear he's a complete POS. The only dignified way out (waaaay before they even "hook up", which is clearly rape btw) would have been an early suicide with a very detailed note, but then you wouldn't have a movie.
(One of Those) Crazy Girls by Paramore is randomly playing at this restaurant and the timing couldn't be better/worse after this movie.
I think either the cat's spirit is meant to be "in the mix" to some extent or that the entity is just hyperfixated on the dead cat thing because he was grieving it when he made the wish. Either way, the way she moves in specific shots seemed to me very deliberately catlike. One of many great, supremely unsettling details. I do not get scared by motion pictures, but my viewing partner was absolutely shook and claimed it was the scariest movie she'd ever seen.
