I’m baked and absolutely lost in this right now. What a great album, I’m looking forward to seeing these songs live someday. Division Blues by Caspian aside, I think Slipping is my favorite song this year. Edit: Somehow forgot about Blood Pact by Holy Fawn but still, Slipping is ridiculously good.
Can confirm, the only way it could be better is if it was was raining. This is the perfect gloomy day album, the weather was dreary here the day it came out and it was such a cool first listen. The heavy parts are fairly far between so they hit extra hard and there’s so much eeriness. Tanner’s voice is perfect for the music.
Just popped on my 2nd pressing now. I also got two thank you notes from Johnny with my order so I feel extra important lol
Got my first pressing on Saturday and I love it. It looks like an eye, which is awesome and fitting. The thank-you note was a nice touch too, but it made me realize how much their logo looks like the one from Two Brothers brewing:
The eagle has landed. (with a cameo from the orange /200 pressing of 65daysofstatic's excellent replicr, 2019 since that also arrived today) Neat detail on the mailer, photo included since that didn't survive the sellotape coming off!
Still waiting on mine. Excited to listen to this again. Been holding out the last few weeks for the vinyl.
Somehow I’m just getting around to listening to this album, but holy hell - is their best? After one full listen, I’m leaning yes.
I really like this album, but have never listened to anything else from them. What should I check out if I’m more into their softer, atmospheric stuff?
I’d still say check out Garden Window. There’s some heavy stuff but there’s also some seriously beautiful stuff.
They put out a demo EP between In Comparison To Me and Death of A Day, before Tanner joined the band. Their drummer sang on it. As much as I absolutely love all the stuff they've done with Tanner, that EP might be my favorite
My favorite goes between Y&I and EL, depending on which I listened to last. Garden Window isn't very far behind those, but I still can't get into Disillusion, though I think that has more to do with my circumstances when the album was released rather than the album itself.
i still need to listen to this but the two before don't have the spark that GW had. honestly one of my favorite albums of the last decade
I agree. Used to think I was the minority in preferring their debut to the next two albums but glad to see so many others jumping in with that opinion.
Johnny put out a solo album a few days ago and it’s really good. I think Frailty is my favorite so far.
