Yeah, until Disney gets away from this formula I really don't have much interest in any new Star Wars show/film. Would love for this show to be what you mentioned re: Obi-Wan living with and processing his failure over Anakin. Tough to make a toy out of that premise though.

I mean, I get it. TROS killed a lot of good will for me about what they are doing. Mando s2 was okay. BOBF was trash.

I love Ewan as obi-wan and am excited he gets a chance at a great show with better writing and directing than the prequels.

At this point we really don’t know how the show is going to be. All we have is a poster and some concept art.

It would be tough to make a show about a dude sitting in a desert doing nothing have any entertainment value or be worth anyones time.

it’s deeply odd to expect a restrained meditation from the space cops series but be totally chill with gods that go to different planets to fight space dogs in the superhero one!

The main character is a space wizard with a laser sword. That screams of a series devoted to sitting in a desert.

But that's not what Anthony_ said at all. There are plenty of people on Tatooine he could interact with in ways that help him process his guilt, all the while keeping tabs on Luke. Hell, have him interact with Tuskens and small townsfolk in a manner like Boba Fett except have it mean something. I would watch that.

For all you know that could be the first episode before things kick off. We really don’t need a whole season of that.

Although, for fucks sake, no tusken raiders. We have had more than enough with them.

Also for the record, I'm fine with what Marvel gives me at the level they clearly want to be operating in terms of quality/ambition. I want/expect more from Star Wars than what we've been getting out of Disney (save for The Last Jedi, that's what I want more of). I don't see how that's an inconsistent position to take. I hold one to a higher standard because it's meant more to me for longer in my life.

Yeah at this point no more Tuskens please. I'm over Tatooine in general. Would have been nice to learn more about them in this show though instead of BoBF. I mean Obi-Wan seems to know a lot about them in ANH.

I'm just imagining a show where we don't see his lightsaber for most of the season. He might need to come to grips with the Jedi, the Force, and his place in past events. The feeling found in the video below, but explored in more depth. That would be compelling to me.

Plus there's room for fan service in a show like that. Liam Neeson's Force ghost would be a huge and necessary inclusion to tell this kind of story. Young Luke would also obviously be there too, as would Owen/Beru. Maybe Obi-wan has some kind of run-in with Jabba and they have to make some kind of arrangement so that Jabba doesn't turn him in to the Empire, then you could bring Jabba back as well. There are lots of options that don't involve Obi-wan going off and dueling Vader again.

I get what Anthony is saying, but I've also come to terms with what Star Wars is and will probably always be.

I do think it's absolutely possible for us to get both a reflective character study and a high-octane action-adventure, but that would require creativity and quality writing that just hasn't been present in the Star Wars universe.

I think The Last Jedi detractors ruined it. They'll never give anyone that free of a rein with the franchise again.

Yeah this is the main issue, really. They caved to those people and now we're never going to get anything that different or good again, or at least not until current Star Wars leadership changes.

Eh, I think it happened even earlier with TFA. That movie was a nostalgia fest and primed everyone to expect even more of it moving forward.

I mean, yea, we’ve had a lot of Tatooine with both seasons of Mando and BOBF. Makes me glad that it sounds like this show will leave it. But I’m sure that’s the setting for at least the whole first episode. We know Obiwan spends close to 2 decades there, I don’t need to see him learning about the Tuskens. He had plenty of time to learn and that’s all I need to know.

It’s possible we won’t see him use the saber until the Vader fight. And that clip is great but does not really inspire a whole season of a show. I wouldn’t want a clip show. But I feel flashbacks are inevitable. No way they bring Hayden back and only keep him behind a mask.

It is possible to have both action and character study. TLJ did it. Hell, Clone Wars, Rebels, and Bad Batch did it. It's not this unachievable feat just because Obi-wan and Vader are going to fight again.
