Even though at 5 episodes in this show finally seems to be delivering on what it promised, I'm still shocked by how poor the execution is. Everyone keeps talking about how brutal Vader is, but a truly terrifying Vader would have cut down Reva the first time she failed to capture Obi-wan (let alone the second or third time). This show feels spineless.
i disagree, a villain can be scary, menacing, brutal, etc. without being physically violent. i think one of the things disney has done best, as noted earlier, is their work with Darth vader.
I really expected Vader to Dooku Reva's head off. But I'm sort of glad we'll see more of Reva. Especially now that she's a free agent.
Probably the best of the series, I'll echo what others have said that Disney has done a real good job with Vader. Glad they're wrapping it up next week.
Would've been fun to see him Dooku some one at some point in this, whether it be Reva or some other dispensable inquisitor in an earlier episode to show that he isn't fuckin around
Vader kills kids to kill the inner kid in himself, the young Anakin inside him that that would be in conflict with Vader, thus keeping him ruthless, is probably going to be the dumb rationale they make up.
Ok, looked at some pics and clips on Twitter of Hayden as Anakin. It is a weird choice to flash back that far back instead of writing a scene closer to Revenge, but even so, I’m glad they didn’t digitally recreate younger Hayden. Apparently a lot of fans love CGI Luke and wish Hayden were de-aged, but I find that mess distracting and annoying. Guess that genie is already out of the bottle, but I’m glad it didn’t happen here; genuinely makes me more interested in checking this out. (Still would’ve preferred it as a movie, but alas.)
Him snapping those necks was brutal for sure but just adds to the inconsistency of his portrayal in the show for me. It makes me wonder why he hasn't been so violent with imperials to show how disposable they are to him which we know to be true from a bunch of other SW content. Its only been teased with the choking Reva scene in ep 4 and then the stabbing of Reva from ep 5 (which just made Vader look dumb since hid didn't confirm the kill). Hes being too forgiving with them imo.
I don't mind the look of Hayden as Anakin in this. It brings a weird sense of nostalgia seeing him older and still in the role.
