I think Obi-Wan had to face Vader early to show how down and out he was. No one wants to see him get washed by the Inquisitors that Ahsoka put down so easily in Rebels. It has to be Vader because it'll only be more powerful when he comes out on top later.
This is going to end with Qui-Gon's force ghost telling Obi Wan how to become a force ghost isn't it?
To be fair she had a similar journey to Obi-Wan in the Ahsoka novel leading to her role/confidence in Rebels.
We don’t know for sure this is Hayden. but according to that guy who does the full body shots in the suit, this would be an example of a shot where it should be him.
Wife and I were watching and she mentioned that she wished the show had just been Obi Wan being discovered on Tatooine, kidnapped by the Empire, escaping, and then slowly fighting his way back home from planet to planet so he can keep his promise to watch over Luke. I don’t love this show as it is, however there are moments within the show that I do love and they all center around Ewan’s performance in his depiction of Obi Wan’s PTSD. That scene when he first hears that Anakin is still alive and the camera pushes in on his face filling with absolute terror, the scene in the desert when he sees a vision of Anakin off in the distance, the little interactions with other people when they say his name and he mournfully says “It’s Ben actually, these days…”, leave me wanting more of that. I even really liked the fight with Vader when he pulls Obi Wan into the fire for its sheer, personal brutality. “I am what you made me” resonates with that theme and I’d like to see more of it from Ewan. Just wish they’d given him and the show more space for that kind of rumination on everything he’s been through.
I like the show. I mean it’s not doing harm. The actress that plays young Leia is doing a nice job all things considered. The dialogue sometimes is just a bit clunky and over the top. Just was shocked there’s another buddies on the run show. Enjoying the Easter eggs. Liking the different worlds as well. Just blows my mind they drop so much cash on a costume or CGI design for a alien that shows up got 5 minutes.
In terms of canon? Guess I could see that. I’d probably agree if I was more invested. Never watched Clone Wars or Rebels and I feel like that makes me naive to a lot. I’ve been thinking more about the Vader and Obi-Wan fight, particularly the end. I get like weird 90s action movie vibes. Same with the tunnels. While watching it I felt better about it I think than I do afterwards.
the fire Vader dragged Obi through will have singed his hair grey and made his shoulder weak so he fights like he does in A New Hope.
I feel this way too. I have fun in the moment but the more I think about stuff or read criticism it kinda sours a little bit. Makes me feel like I’m being both too critical and not critical enough. Oh well
the recap really got my hyped and I think that sums up the prequels and this series. theres good ideas bogged down by terrible execution.
