They're stuck in the same rut that Star Trek has been in where they're afraid to do anything beyond the established shows/movies. Something set 100 years after TROS is infinitely more interesting to me than anything set during or before the Skywalker Saga.
another good SW story idea would be to basically take the original idea for Finn and actually fucking do it haha. (in a new character - Finn is ruined) they have the literal richest galaxy of lore to build new from and they wont
i don't think i'm necessarily ready to go there - sure, we're a little overexposed to events taking place on Tatooine, but there is a lot coming in the next 6-12 months that is worth being excited for. Mando is always promising, and I can't wait to see what they explore with Andor and Ahsoka (even if we sort of can guess the main plot thread for that by now).
geez shes maybe the best thing about this show so far. really great character. i havent seen the bs and assume its the usual stupid minority terminally online people from incel twitter. is it really that widespread to warrant this kind of response?
Yes. And I’m glad this time the abused and bullied are getting this kind of backing from all around the franchise.
I have been a Star Wars fan for my entire life and until reading this thread it has literally never occurred to me how weird it is that the Jedi are treated as ancient/myth in the OT after how little time has passed since the PT lol
I’ve thought about it but never really cared about it. It is what it is. The prequels were written after the OT and George wanted to use the opportunity to present a fully functional Jedi temple and organization.
Think I liked this new one the most. Though it seems to confirm the grand inquisitor is dead, which is problematic if you’ve seen Rebels. Though they do make it clear that it’s a title that can be passed on. So I guess they can just say this was a different one and then there’s no problems with killing this one off.
People are saying that the dead pilot at the end was Rian Johnson. I gotta get ready for work so I don’t have time to rewatch it and go back to listen to the little bit where he talks on the “radio” to Tala (?)
Really enjoyed the tension in this episode. Not sure why Vader just stood there and allowed Tala's droid to carry Obi-Wan away at the end, though.
Finally caught up with the first two episodes and disappointed to say this feels like uncanny valley Star Wars. Ewan is back, but the world he inhabits this time just feels so...lacking? A show that cost $25 million per episode has no right to feel this bland. Also why is Disney downright terrified of using even a single note of John Williams' iconic score in their tv shows?
Right??? This was so wack. Or even y’know... put out the fire with a force push? Or force pull Tala down from the ledge? HE LITERALLY FLOATED OBI-WAN and someone in the village! Or... follow the droid to where it reunites with Tala (which feels like it must literally be one or two walls away from that open area)? The blatant lack of common sense and easy solutions to problems in this series so far is really what makes it feel so strangely hollow, to me. Have they needed to pad out the six episodes this badly that they’ve created situations where characters have to essentially goof in order for the show to work? Feels bad man. Hopefully the back three feel less filler-y in some of their plot justifications.
Probably my favorite episode thus far. I will echo the sentiments that we're definitely missing some of Williams' musical cues, and I was a bit confused by Vader not just going around the fire to continue the pursuit. I've seen some explanations for the latter, but still.
I do like the idea that this series is stripping away the guilt Obi-Wan feels to put in a more passive place by A New Hope.
