Listening to The La's episode now and I'm not sure about it yet. I had never heard of this podcast before this thread, but the format is right up my alley. The host is a little hard to listen to though.
Yeah, I was ready to turn it off after a few minutes but the subject matter made me keep listening and you get used to her.
Yeah it’s okay but the whole thing is a little book report/Wikipedia-ish. Not as much proper music talk as I would have hoped.
i agree generally. also that’s a weird episode bc there’s not much there there. it’s just one album lol.
I have mixed feelings on Bandsplain. The Oasis episodes were insanely fun, mostly because they're like 50 percent reciting hilarious Liam and Noel insults. But a lot of the episodes (including Oasis!) follow the pattern of praising the early stuff and hand-waving the later albums. Which, in a lot cases, fair! But I feel like if you're going to have a podcast with that name, you should find guests who are insane die-hards that will go to bat for less loved albums. Like, get @phaynes12 on there to make the "Be Here Now is their best album" argument, instead of someone with the typical "the first two albums are masterpieces and everything after is whatever" opinion.
The Third Eye Blind episode was a bummer. Seemed like the guy really liked the first two albums and had basically never listened to anything after.
i do think the blur episode is one of their best bc it’s one of the few where the guest cares about every album but CR is also the GOATed podcaster
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeyah babe just can't do the host's whole thing. would love it with any other host, I think.
Heathen Chemistry is probably my least spun Oasis record, but the singles are strong so I can’t say it’s a bad album. Way too many people sleep on Don’t Believe The Truth. The highlight of the back half of their discography imo. Part of the Queue is one of my favorite Noel songs.
I relistened to Heathen Chemistry for the first time in over a decade hoping it would be better than I remembered. Unfortunately not, in one ear and out the other. I do like “The Hindu Times” and I really like “Just Getting Older” (b-side) as well
just finished my listen and the highs (hindu times, force of nature, little by little) are high but the lows are lowwww. it’s between that and dig out your soul for their worst.
Dig Out Your Soul was easily my least favorite on this past listen through the catalog. The revelation was Giants, which I’d never spent much time with, but rules.
Really wish we were getting I Hope, I Think, I Know on this tour. One of my favorites. Thankful for Little By Little though.
i feel like the setlist will be the same show to show but columbia, my big mouth and shock and the lightning would be huge
heathen and dig are the only two that I dont care for as a whole, but both have a songs on them I like
