Liam likely taking the piss. No way are they playing only an hour on their first tour in over 15 years
NME is saying Joey Waronker is gonna play drums this tour, with Andy Bell on bass and Gem/Bonehead on guitars with Noel. Liam is protesting on twitter buuuuuut since Joey played drums on Liam's last solo record it at least seems plausible would be stoked on that lineup
Yeah I heard rumors about Joey too which would be interesting. I’d would’ve preferred Chris Sharrock, but as a Beck fan, I’m down with Joey! Really hoping Andy is on it too and it seems that those rumors are valid
Yeah a document of some sort leaked online a few weeks back which states that the Gallaghers were starting a production company, which started rumors for this. That’ll be cool!
I would put this under rumor at the moment but I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be true and they want to beat the record
I wonder when we’ll hear about who’s gonna be playing in the band. 100 days, as funny as this sounds, is quick!
Finally booked our London flights the other day. I love how there's been no interviews or the two of them spotted together since the announcement 7 months ago. Would be wild if we don't even find out who's in the band until the first show.
Zak Starkey is in a band with Andy Bell that recently released a single featuring Noel, plus is no longer playing with The Who. Good chance he’ll be involved.
Yeah that makes more sense to me than Joey. Couldn’t see them getting a new member altogether unless they burned bridges with just about every past drummer. Still think it’s weird Chris isn’t involved. He seemed like the most obvious choice
I always get confused when I hear news about The Who, because they had their “farewell tour” in 2015, and then played MSG in 2017 and billed it as their last New York show. So that was all bullshit I guess?
I was curious so I did some Googling, and I don't know about bullshit but it sounds like Pete Townshend talks about ending touring every other year or so out of concern that they can't go on forever, but then they just... do. I can't find anything about what you mentioned though, about anything specifically being billed as a final tour or show. Might just mean I'm not digging hard enough, but the most I can find is a comment Pete made in 2015 that they might be done after their tour at the time, which, as I said, he seems to do on and off in interviews. He also said in 2013 that Who would stop touring after 2015, but again, he seems to say that kind of stuff a lot.
my dad still talks about how he feels swindled by the who. he paid for their farewell tour PPV in 1982.
