Goddamn, that's fucking nuts. Sucks for the attendees but makes sense that the police have to take that shit seriously. Hope they find the culprit.
Absolutely the right call to evacuate - only curious part was keeping merch sales open as the evacuation was happening. Garbage and Metric were terrific before it all happened, though. Just a really bizarre (but thankfully safe) ending to the night for us.
As an aside, this tour seems like a really poor pairing based on how I'm seeing ticket sales. I'm going tomorrow night to a venue that I've seen Garbage headline themselves and it's not even sold out.
Liam is on fire man! Maybe unpopular opinion here but, as much as I love Oasis, I wish he would play more of his solo stuff instead of a 50/50. He has 3 solo records already with enaugh good stuff to play a solid show with a couple of Oasis songs here and there.
I’d agree with you, if I had seen Oasis a bunch. But given so many didn’t, especially stateside, I need Cigarettes and Alcohol cranked up to 11 every night.
Was lucky to catch Oasis 3 times from 02-08. Most notably at the 3500-capacity Roseland Ballroom in 2002 (small for them given their stature in UK/Europe). Oddly they did NOT play Wonderwall or Champagne Supernova but still a great set (though it did depend on how much you enjoyed Heathen Chemistry): Oasis Setlist at Roseland Ballroom, New York
Going through their discography for the first time, alternating with Blur because why not, and so far I can say I'm a big fan of the wall of sound thing they have going on in lots of songs, especially when they layer tons of acoustic and electric guitars on top of each others. I'm on Heathen Chemistry right now
The Masterplan 25th anniversary rerelease just announced. The Oasis web store has a cool green marble vinyl for sale, but since it ships from the UK it’s an extra $22 in shipping. Looks like record stores in the US are getting a silver variant. Just popped up on Rough Trade
Every time I see this thread bumped up, a small dumb part of me hopes to see some sort of reunion announcement.
Reunion WILL happen, I have no doubt these days. They’ll still hate each other and it’ll very clearly be a money grab with Noel doing less than the bare minimum to keep up the appearance of it NOT being about the money. Endless ‘did you see Noel talk to Liam during Supersonic?! HE initiated the conversation! He's having so much fun!!’ comments. but it’s about the money, and I’ll pay it.
it's already more or less confirmed it'll be in 2025 at knebworth. the fact that it's two whole years away speaks volumes.
I’m more curious if they continue in any capacity after the tour. Could see Noel literally saying ‘I finally agreed, they paid me A TON of money. A TON! Gave the kids and the old people what they always wanted. Now it’s done. They can stop asking me. We did it. Mum’s happy. It’s done.’ Now here’s the next ultra underwhelming HFB record.
Recent events (divorce), comments and interviews make me think it will happen after Noel is done promoting / touring his last album. Hoping they will release some new music too.
