These days I return to the first High Flying Birds album more than any post BHN album. That said, Dig Out Your Soul aged really well. A good album to go out on. Heathen is the worst by a mile. SCYHO, Little By Little and Songbird make it on my "Best of" list, but the rest of the album I don't really need to hear again.
Comes out next week. Agreed on DBTT being way underrated - and that was the tour that I was fortunate to catch them on in Philly in 2005. Fuckin' legends.
Forget that AI stuff - I almost hate to go here, but has anyone taken a stab at putting together an "Oasis" album comprised solely of Noel's HFB, Liam solo tracks/Beady Eye?
The AI stuff was really weak anyway. I’ve tried to do what you say with playlist a couple of times but I’m really biased because I like Liam stuff way more, so I end up making a Liam playlist with a couple of Noel songs.
i don't really love the album, two or three cool songs and it's better than the record before it, but nowhere near the self-titled and chasing yesterday that interview with that pedal show is the most likable he's come off in years though, much better than the Hot Ones episode
Council Skies has a few great songs, but the rest just feel like paint-by-numbers Noel and he's just phoning it in.
Found a blog with pretty much every Oasis b-side/live comp in existence if anyone's in to that kinda thing. Having a biblical time listening to the Metro Chicago show from '94 this morning.
I like the current ~media Noel~ more than I have in the most recent years, the album is pretty okay, and it’s STARTING to maybe appear like his constant Oasis talk (the interviewers bring it up, but his replies) isn’t JUST to push the new record. Liam is still king, obviously, but Noel isn’t the biggest potato right now.
