The 100 Greatest Nu Metal Albums of All Time

Found this article and found it ridiculously fun and compelling.

Even though they include many albums that probably should not be considered nu-metal, they also include several that are never typically even considered for these lists (Simon Says! 40 Below Summer! Sw1tched!) and gives them the attention they deserve.

There's even some international acts (Pleymo, Dir en Grey) and a few I've never even heard of, to my surprise.

I am also happy because when they get to White Pony, they absolutely understand the exact reason I prefer the version with Back To School.

Give it a read! Just don't think too deeply about the rankings.

Rumble Fish and Face to Face are crazy songs to play acoustic

Sevendust announced 2 shows this week for 2026, 2 months apart, both within an hour drive from me. Never not excited for them.

Also, anyone remember the band Rumblefish lol

    Tim Fluckey again, the guitarist.

Pepperidge Farms remembers. One of those bands that never even got to see their album released.

Lots of bands like that back then. I still remember “Soul Creation” by Cinder from a sampler cd I got at Newbury Comics when I was 10/11

Love me some Cinder. Their following albums were less aggressive but still had lots to love IMO, and I'm glad Break Your Silence got an official release eventually, even if it was years and years later.

Another good example is Dry Cell. Was set up as the next Linkin Park and even had their A&R person if I remember correctly. Strange to think the singer went on to be STP's current frontman, especially after Chester had a stint. Truly a mirror universe career path.

Got to see Dry Cell live, the guitarist had one of those duel guitars. It was pretty cool.

lol yes I remember them, distinct memories of downloading “Body Crumbles” off KaZaa. A bit uncanny how shamelessly that guy aped Chester

  11. I used to discover a lot of bands through a weekly new music hour on DC radio in the early 2000s. Definitely remember a handful of artists that had their single played and then the album was never released. First one that comes to mind is Automatic Black. Was really into the single "Go Your Way," but the album was shelved for some reason. You can still find them on streaming services, and it's just the one song on their page.

Fun fact, their first guitarist was Stevie D who left to reform Buckcherry with Josh Todd. Their replacement was Rikki Lixx, who then left to form Rev Theory.

  13. That's amazing, two notable guitarists and zero albums. Looks like the full album is on YouTube now. I'll have to check it out!

I LOVE their unreleased album. Just straight up good modern rock. "Crash and Burn" was so good.

Another good one is Ether Seeds. Had Dustin Lowery in the band (brother of Clint and Corey) and were on Roadrunner, and dropped before the album could release.

  16. Holdawn, Corey from Seether and Clint from Sevendust are related and now there's a third brother?

They were together in Dark New Day too. Corey's been all over the fucking place. Stuck Mojo, Stereomud, Eye Empire, Saint Asonia.

  18. Dark New Day sounds familiar and I've seen Stuck Mojo mentioned somewhere, have to do some digging then

Dark New Day was what Clint did when he was away from Sevendust for a few years. It also had Brett Hestla from Virgos Merlot, Troy McLawhorn from Doubledrive, and Will Hunt from Skrape and a thousand other bands. Troy and Will are both in Evanescence now.

  20. Oh I was about to say know those names from Evanescence (and Seether for Troy as well right?). Small world uh

Yeah, Troy was in Seether before jumping ship to Evanescence, something I remember not going over well in the former camp because of the history between the bands.

What I remember is Shaun Morgan and Amy Lee were a couple, they did that version of Broken, and then they broke up and Amy wrote Call Me When You're Sober about Morgan and I remember Morgan responding something like being sad a song was all their relationship amounted to and yadda yadda yadda.

Anyway, I remember Troy jumping ship to Evanescence being awkward.

Were they also in Doubledrive and Still Rain?

After Doubledrive disbanded the singer was in another band, I think they were called Violent Plan. They put out one song and it was really good. I won't be surprised if they were on there as well.

Corey and Clint were not in Doubledrive.

Still Rain on the other hand, yes, they were all in there with Troy (and Donnie Hamby) before they split for Stuck Mojo, Sevendust, and Doubledrive respectively.

  24. Pretty sure I was familiar with this song too back then!
