Wow haven’t heard of 40 Below Summer in two decades. I’m trying to remember the name of the song that appeared on a sampler CD back then, but coming up blank. Don’t think I’ve ever heard any albums so I have some catching up to do.
I checked their Spotify page and it turns out it’s « Self Medicate ». It was attached to the sampler of the very first rock magazine I got as a kid in late 2003 so that checks out.
Would you guys be interested in a French numetal retrospective? My view of the nu metal scene is slightly different due to having witnessed part of the French wave, which thrived a lot in the late 90s / early to mid 00s. I was too young to catch most of it but, thanks to an older brother, I did kickstart my musical journey through a couple French bands in 2002. I’m currently on a nostalgia binge and intend on revisiting everything as well as listening to many of those I never did discography runs for. I may post highlights here and there.
Pleymo was THE one for me and is probably the one that got the most success out of them. Otherwise, on top off my head: - AqME - Mypollux - Wunjo - Watcha - Unswabbed - Eths - Tripod - Kells - Mass Hysteria - Freedom For King Kong - Sidilarsen - Babylon Pression - Dagoba - Silmarils - Fis(ch)er - Lofofora - Enhancer - Sipping - Black Bomb A ... And so many more I'll rediscover as I dive into the past. I'll highlight each one of them with my favorite songs. Some of them are more unfamiliar to me than others as I only remember a couple songs, so tons of discography runs are waiting for me.
They're my second favorite and I love how much they expanded from their initial nu metal sound by implementing post-metal influences later on. Their drummer even went on to be a producer, and my best friend just put out a AqME (among others) influenced noisy rock-ish/alt metal album with him at the helm.
MÖTLEY CRÜE, SLIPKNOT, JUDAS PRIEST And KERRY KING Among Confirmed Acts For WELCOME TO ROCKVILLE 2024 The sheer amount of nu-metal nostalgia on this line-up is awesome. Honestly would love to go to this, but I hate outdoor concerts and the logistics are awful, but the sheer number of bands at this thing that I enjoy and actively listen to makes me super jealous.
Our Last Night has covered 'Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle)' by Limp Bizkit & 'Bring Me To Life' by Evanescence as part of their nu-metal November cover series
If Our Last Night ever were welcome here, I feel like that's soured after they toured with Falling In Reverse and joined in that band's dissing of Spiritbox for dropping out after Spiritbox's fanbase (rightfully) complained.
But as @Penlab said, they support shitty people to get there. Also, a covers tour? GTFO You got some big balls to cover Amy Lee.
tours a tours a tour. bands need to make money to support themselves. sometimes they tour with people that others aren't a fan of. it happens all the time. not every tour package is gonna be perfect. they saw an opportunity and went with it, you dont have to support their choices. everyone is lookin for a payday. it makes the music go around. you bitching on the internet is really working out well for you mr. nate johnson. you do you boo!
