The good news: new P.O.D. album on the way. The bad news: not until 2024. P.O.D.'s New Album Is 'Mixed, Mastered' And 'Ready To Go'
Also this misses the other factor that Nu Metal is the music that probably a lot of these kids parents listened to in high school. Teens wearing Korn and Slipknot shirts now is like all the Millennials who would wear Zeppelin and Pink Floyd shirts when we were in high school.
I used to love this band, however I just can't listen to them at all since. Fuck you Ian for ruining the careers of your (former) band mates. A need article I just read about the stabbing suggests he was held hostage for 6 hours in prison and if he survives he'll be 'incredibly lucky'.
Not sure if I'd consider Incubus nu-metal past the first album, but anyway, I'm intrigued as to what they're doing for this re-record.
Science and Make Yourself are 100% Nu Metal Even Morning View had some tinges but it was a sign they were abandoning that sound.
Eh, I agree to disagree. I mean, Make Yourself had "Pardon Me", sure, but it also had "Drive", "Stellar", "I Miss You"... I think it was a pretty varied album stylistically. I wouldn't call it 100% nu-metal, it was an alternative rock album at the core.
You can disagree all you like. The band were still definitely a nu metal band and opened for Deftones along with Taproot on the White Pony tour during the Make Yourself tour cycle.
Woof. Chad sounds like he’s struggling to get anything out in all the live Mudvayne videos I’ve watched.
I kinda wanted to go to that show since lawn tickets are $20 and I like 4/5 bands but with it being outdoors in TX I think I'm gonna skip it.
This was the first Explicit CD I ever bought and I failed miserably at taking the sticker off the CD case for fear that my parents wouldn’t want me listening to it.
Man it’s such a shame Chris Volz is a huge piece of shit because I’ve been going back to the first Flaw record a bit this weekend. Guitar tone on this album is hard.
I've enjoyed all his work (Flaw, Five Bolt Main, his solo album) but it's very clear he's the reason why his bands continually fall apart. It's a shame.
I saw them right when Covid was winding down and he was such a POS. He kept rambling about people wearing masks, about how California is "ruining it for everybody", he told the story about how they were featured in some late night tv show (he said something like "the media tried to make fun of us but we used them for free promotion") and more. He saved the best for last - during "Payback" he stopped mid song and started having a huge temper tantrum. Apparently he didn't like the sound guys and started cursing them out, threatening them (he said that him and his "special forces" friends will catch them outside) and even called one of them the N word, following it with "It's not racist because you are white". That whole thing was like 3-4 minutes. By the time they restarted the song half the people left. I have never been so embarrassed to be at a show like I was that night. I think that a few days later a video of a few seconds of his tirade went viral and he had to issue an apology online. I couldn't be able to bring myself to listen to them anymore after that night. Stephen Colbert. Because he got wind Flaw was crowdfunding a tour bus and it became a running gag on Colbert's show. He then proceeded to gift them a tour bus on his show and appeared in one of their music videos.
He threw a temper tantrum at one of the shows I saw years ago too. Mad at the sound guy or something, he refused to sing. It was super awkward as the band played the entire set without a vocalist while he drunkenly pouted.
