At least one person was all I needed. Idk why it didn’t occur to me to post this until now. But I was listening to Saved and it reminded me. Anyway, back in like April, I randomly thought of wens and went to see if she was still doing anything. Didn’t know she basically started over under a new name and everything. But I saw something funny on her old instagram. And just a few days ago on her new account. It really is a small world sometimes.
Yeah it’s one thing to be hopeful for something, and something totally else to straight up tell an artist what you want from them, unprompted. Especially in the case of a band like this that has been so consistently vocal about their struggles with existing in the first place. Good for them for setting the expectation
I would never tell an artist what to make and not make. That’s shitty and entitled to say the least. Would I love for them to return to a sound more akin to Threads? Absolutely. Have I given up on that hope? Absolutely. I’m just glad they’re making music again even if I don’t even up liking it all that much. I loved about half of Saved so TBD.
as much as I can appreciate and agree with her point in a broad sense, it's in response to a pretty harmless comment
I mean, it’s not great to ask an artist to start writing “deep songs” again, as if none of their most recent work is “deep.”
Yeah this is my point the comment is annoying but as an artist you should expect to hear that type of shit all the time - “your old shit is better.” just brush it off and prove them wrong
Maybe it doesn’t feel harmless to them? It’s not like she outed anybody and the person got attacked. They both probably see the same crap all the time on the band’s page and their personals. She could’ve just grabbed the most recent one. Lol
They shouldn’t have to expect that. They’re people and deserve respect. Call out shitty behavior, don’t treat it like it’s supposed to just be okay to make people feel like shit because you think they signed up for it.
One of the times I saw them post Saved, there was some dude in the crowd that kept screaming “play Threads, did you forget about Threads” etc. Comments and messages like these are probably pretty common for them and it’s 100% fair to make a little PSA asking those people to lay off while they’re trying to enjoy their first new album cycle in 6 years. They even blocked out the username and deleted the comment so the person wouldn’t be harassed
Yeah, she went the extra mile to hid the persons identity and is advocating for herself. Any human has the right to do that.
Imagine strangers messaging you all the time that you’re doing your job or something you love wrong and you’re just told you should suck it up. But they have like 150k listeners on Spotify, so I guess they deserve it. Wild mentality.
