I still come back to this but with time I find it to be a little same-y, which feels weird to say since it’s a new sound, but too many songs pick up and then just kinda keep going. SGL is a song of the year candidate though.
Spun this with the windows down on my way back from dinner tonight and it’s even better at the end of summer than the beginning of summer
It can’t be overstated how good of a job Brad did producing this. Someone said it a while back but it sounds like they were working with the budget of a pop star. There are so many layers to each song and nothing sounds out of place.
its exhausting to continuously view music through the lens of how it compares to other albums that are absolutely nothing alike but happen to be released in the same arbitrary 12 month window
i think it was me who said it but i dont wanna take credit if it wasnt but it sounds like something i said
I also fee this tbh, and don’t really ever actually compile EOTY lists in part because of it. By the end of the year I can barely even remember what came out in it.
i like to round up albums i liked in a year at the end just to share new music but i feel like no one even cares besides what your number 1 is. and throughout the year everything that comes out has to stack up against whatever album youve decided to place a pedestal this year. it seriously runs the risk of devaluing other music because it doesnt live up to some other music when in reality the music is still extremely good and deserving of love. idk, its just a weird, weird spot we're in where half the discussion always revolves around albums of the year and end of the year lists. it just doesnt feel...right? idk.
I like to see who has albums in common with me and then anything they have that I haven't heard I'll check those out
