This is just fine so far. Feels like it might be the kind of album that clicks at a weird time, like after a few more months. Reading through this thread I’m also reminded that I must have totally different taste than like 99% of people here; I’m shocked to see the unanimous praise for AZ, as that’s my least favorite song by a wide margin, and meanwhile MJ is one of the clear highlights for me.
My town got destroyed by a storm last night and I was in traffic for 4 hours (the ride is typically 45 minutes from work) to get home with this record on repeat. It eased my pain exponentially. "Set It Free" is so damn good. There is so much about the production of this album that I adore. When it's restrained it's gorgeous, and when it opens up and hits you right in the face like on "Window" and "P0WDER" you're left in the wake of Now, Now.
I'm with you on this - AZ is just a dull melody repeated ad infinitum and MJ is one of the most interesting songs
It’s both boring and annoying to me. Maybe it’ll grow on me in context. First two songs are probably my favorite here
AZ didn’t do anything for me when it was released as a single but it’s one of the songs I’m returning to the most now.
That pretty much sums how I felt at the time too! It was just too much hahaha! I was indeed wearing a beanie, it very well could've have been me. I caught a few words with both Brad and Cacie while everyone was queuing to meet Julien too, it was a very surreal hour or so to say the least. I thought it was renamed the O2 Institute seeing as though O2 brought it from HMV towards the tail end of 2016? I'm half expecting O2 to get one of the 2 arenas as well as some in the future. There is always something new cropping up at The Custard Factory every time I'm in the city, definitely an underappreciated area. Ahhh yes Johnny Foreigner, never seen them but caught a solo set from their singer/guitarist in London a few years ago when he support Owls. That honestly sounds like a deflating show to be honest, might have just been a combination of the crowd that night and the staff having an off night. Most of the shows I've been there have been quiet or a pleasant experience!
fuck i really wish johnny foreigner would tour the US giving this another shot on my speakers, it was good on first listen but didn't hit me too hard. i think i'm in the right environment for this to be a very good listen
Kinda feel the same, it's not a bad song, just super repetitive and sandwiched between two amazing tracks.
Just bought tickets to see them! It's not until July 30th but I'm stoked. Haven't seen them since 2013.
I just can't get into this at all. I don't really like any of the first three songs so that puts it at a disadvantage straight away. So sad.
Seeing Now, Now for the next 3 days in a row, and I only have to walk 10 minutes from my apartment. Ooooh yeahhhhhhh
