The NPR article has an unintentionally funny line about the use of baby across the album: When KC Dalager sings about being your baby, calling you baby, wanting to be your baby, it's not a throwaway affectation; it's a challenge.
Is it just me or is SGL slightly different? Maybe it's just my headphones but I'm hearing some things I never had before.
Taking a week long vacation next week to road trip from MO to WA for Sasquatch and I’m gonna be BLASTING this the whole way.
Cool to hear bits from some of the snippets that they used to post years back between Threads and SGL dropping. (Drive)
They were all over the place tonight! Think they were jet lagged and had a crazy day with the album going public. Was a vintage goofy NN show though and there’s a lot of die hard fans that always show up to LDN shows for them, so lots of energy all round. Shame they got lumped with that venue though (The Dome) - it’s such an awful venue. Sound is always bad and feels more like a school disco than a gig venue. Played some new songs for the first time ever including Drive and Saved.
Funny you mention the venue because the place I saw them in Boston last summer had the same feel. Felt like it was in a school cafeteria almost. Sounds like a good show all in all though!
Get out of here with your science and numbers!! /s as for the album, hot damn. This is the summer album for my 2018. "Holy Water" is just something else. Can't wait to see them next month!
I’ve listened to this 6 times so far today and I like it more each time. Part of the reason I personally feel this record was so worth the wait is because I think if it’d come out a standard length of time after Threads (~2 years), I may not have appreciated the growth as much. It’s different in so many ways and still so uniquely Now, Now. The lasting value of this is gonna be put to a pretty rigorous test as I listen to it constantly in the coming months. Definitely calls for a road trip very soon.
So excited for tonight. Such a gorgeous venue, too. Had to wait the better part of a decade to see these again, and I never thought it’d be alongside a new album release. I’m moving down south tomorrow to start a new job, and this is the perfect send-off.
Sigh, really trying hard to hold out on this until Thursday night. Don't think I've been so excited for a new release this much in a while.
