Yeah, that’s sorta where my head was at too. I hope one day KC and Brad feel comfortable enough to share with us why this rollout was so strange and drawn out (for the record, NOT the writing process, which they’ve already extensively shared on). Obviously the big reason is the label not being fully “active”, but I wonder to what extent that term goes and also about their experiences working with them and trying to get the ball rolling
I legitimately delayed moving places and the start date for my new job just so I could still see Now, Now on the 15th. Why am I like this?
just feels fine. maybe if i didn't hear yours first i'd like it more but it feels just like a peppier version of that song in the verses. and it comes nowhere close to anything on threads. first three singles are all amazing so i'm hoping this is just a slight misstep
They must've used the Yours melody on purpose, no? The second line starts with like "just to ..." with the same little melodic run at the end of that phrase as Yours. has to be a callback, but I'm not sure why they'd do it on the same album.
I like MJ better than Yours because it seems to have more energy. The track listing on Apple Music shows that MJ plays before Yours so it can be foreshadowing. It will be interesting to hear how the album flows from one track to the next. This album will definitely be for summer road trips - can't wait!
It’s not bad it’s just ...fine? Also, I find it a little cringe that this song is about Michael Jackson. Production is great though and I’m excited for the record to come.
Yeah unless they're doing a thing like The Weakerthans did with (Manifest), (Hospital Vespers) and (Past-Due), I'm not really seeing how you can so obviously miss copping your own song from the same album First thing from this album I haven't really cared for
Also, surprised no one here has dissected the lyrics to Yours yet I'll take Things A Man Can't Write in 2018 for $500 Alex
Really surprised at everybody’s reactions to this. I’d argue I’ve listened to this album about...20/30 times in full? And this is one of the catchiest, most enjoyable tracks on there. This is a bloody outstanding record, and while there are better songs on it, I definitely didn’t anticipate such a negative response to MJ.
I hear what y'all are talking about, but for me, it was kinda easy to forget about the Yours similarities and get consumed in the rest of the sounds that are there.
