One of my favorite songs of the year so far, Bon Iver/James Vincent McMorrow vibes

I’m very excited about this. “Birthplace” and “Utican” are both beautiful.

Hopefully Atlanta’s weather cooperates before this comes out so I can get the full fall vibes instead of gross mid-80s temperatures forever and ever

Also this is wild but I found out about Ed Tullet a long long time ago, even before his EP Trawl came out. Surprised he’s doing so well now

Edit: just realized he was on Equal Vision Records back in 2011/2012 when he released an album, Never Joy. This is wild

This is good but so strongly apes Bon Iver that it's hard to compliment without referencing previous work. It's certainly pretty.

  20. Imo that’s okay! I’m cool with acknowledging this is basically a Bon Iver clone and continuing to praise both. Especially in a world where Bon Iver has starting taking (really awesome) steps away from this exact sound and probably won’t make a record like this one again

Instrumentation is pretty different from Bon Iver. This is a lot more chamber pop and less electronic influenced. If you’re not listening for the superb production with those arrangements, you’re missing what makes this better than your average dude strumming a guitar and trying to be Bon Iver.

Yeah, Bon Iver's discography is full of all-timers. If this sounds exactly like it, then that's a huge compliment.

There's nothing wrong with trying to sound like the great musician on planet earth. This guy is certainly good at it. He's also a great lyric writer.

I'm hoping he'll come to the US one day.

edit: Wow nevermind I guess he's coming this fall! Maybe I'll go down to Chicago next month. Really interested to hear/see his live show.
